Is there a way to IGNORE a user completely?

Realisitcally, not everyone's going to get along, and not all people come here for support (or, if they do, not all of them take it, but rather choose to post about it constantly with no real intent of actually doing anything). Just because it's a support site doesn't mean that it's possible to support everyone, and I highly doubt there would be one or two people here that everyone would ignore (in fact, I'm sure that no one would be completely ignored). It's easier to support sometimes if you don't have to see someone who annoys you a lot. With me in any case, if I'm irritated (which, unfortunately, I can't quite control), I'm not much good at offering caring words to anyone.

Personally, there are a few people that I would very much like to block. Lau's suggestion went directly over my head; if there's ever a way to do it simply, I'll do it.
