A Quick Reply box at the bottom of every thread would be a nice addition.

^ That's what the "Post reply" button at the foot of every thread already achieves, surely - and what I just used for this post.

Does anyone else around here have trouble with the existential (invisable) recaptcha box? It keeps stopping me changing my avatar and I know it causes problems for others. It needs a kick in the flares, or an enema.

They could get aspie affection working.

Also, they could stop being biased against certain bodily fluids! Why is it that people are allowed to talk about semen and other sexy fluids, drool, blood, food, water, snot, etc, but they ain't allowed to talk about what comes out of their bum?! The owners of the site clearly a prejudiced bunch.

I'd love to be able to choose "publically display age, do not display full birthday". Is there a way of doing that?

this site seriously needs a few upgrades

He he he, people have been saying that since before I got here. Alex is of the opinion that maintaining site continuity is more important than adding any new bells and whistles, as Aspies are notably sensitive to change.

Which is a valid point. Too many websites just make changes for the sake of changes, by adding a lot of worthless crap, that people don't want, and don't even understand. Which only serves to PO the user base.

But this site seriously looks like it is stuck in 2004. It might not hurt to make a few minor upgrades every decade or so. Just sayin.

Two features, I'd really like to see would be 1. A link in quotes back to the original post. Every forum has that these days. 2 A "thumbs-up" button, just to offer some positive encouragement to a poster. Or maybe a "thanks" button which would add your user name below the post to a list of members thanking the poster for whatever they said. Something like that.

I would like to see some more Topical Discussion forums as a place for members to discuss their interests. My suggestions would be these.

Social Studies, Geography, History, Urban Planing
Transportation, Aviation, Trains, etc.
Current Events
Economics
Fashion, Beauty
Hobbies and Recreation
Pets
Psychology
Travel

Inactive accounts should not be deleted, but instead the members who created them should be given a certain amount of time if they want to come back.

Inactive accounts aren't deleted on WP, and I don't like the idea that people should be forced to come back after a certain amount of time if they want to continue posting. Some members don't have a lot to discuss and only come here occasionally when they need support. The option to come back at any time should always be available.

Thank you for clearing that up, Cornflake. I apologize if you and anyone who has read my previous post took offense, that was not my intention. I was expressing an honest suggestion.

If anyone feels offended by my previous post or this post, please feel free to PM me so I can explain myself as thoroughly as possible.

I don't think anyone was offended by your post, they were just explaining that it was inaccurate.

could I suggest an anti-troll and idiot strategy? This worked on a writers site I was on a few years ago where we had problems with people just causing trouble - a week delay between registering as a member and being able to post on the site - this gives folks time to view the archives and get used to the flow? Just a thought!

Bad idea. This would result in decreased site traffic. If I signed up here and was told that I had to wait a week before posting, I'd likely just become pissed off and not return to the site. Additionally, people often sign up to WP because they need immediate support, and this would prevent them from receiving it.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My suggestion: Get rid of the "Register for Wrong Planet" popup! It's so annoying! Sometimes I like to read the recent posts to see if there is any conversation that interests me, and I hate having to dismiss the popup every time I return to the forum index.
