I'm not in favour of recriminalising homosexuality, don't be ridiculous. I do like his line of argument, though.

Will this mean the end of Gay Pride parades then? They've no need to be so obnoxious about pushing it (excuse the pun) if they are integrated fully into society and have all the legal protections they need.

why are you watching them if you find them obnoxious? i haven't ever seen one, even by accident (though i would like to).

anyways they are no more pushing their sexuality by having gay pride parades than straights are doing it by having straight PDAs in every conceivable location... or flaunting their straight bodies in places like Maxim magazine, Hooters, firefighter calendars, lad's mags in plain view, etc.

you might wonder why i would assume all of those individuals would be straight, but not everyone in the gay pride parades are in fact homosexual either (my daughter and her straight friends were in one), so i am making the same default assumption as you.

EDIT: oh, also regular parades are full of straight people, often scantily clad.

Well there's no need to have such pride to 'defy the bigots' once people think nothing of someone's sexuality, and see it as a triviality not worth commenting or discriminating on.

If I had to choose whether WP was to be a safe haven for conservative christians who dislike homosexuality or a safe haven for LGBT's, sorry, I'd choose the latter

To say that members of WP are closed minded because we're so overwhelmingly pro-LGBT is comparable to saying that people who are opposed to racism are intolerant toward racists.
And you gotta think - as Aspies, we can sympathize with someone else who doesn't quite fit in more than others can.

Indeed. Some people are gay. As long as you aren't obnoxious about it (the same really goes for all orientations, straights too), no-one should really give a toss. I don't. :)

I can kind of get where some of the complaints are coming from; it's not okay to just bash on gay people, but I've also seen this sort of rush to judgement and insults when someone's comment is taken the wrong way. It's annoying if you're just trying to explore an issue and people keep thinking you're advocating something you're not and hurling abuse your way. On the other hand, I've definitely seen some pretextual threads lately that seemed designed to simply skirt the rules while taking the shots at gays the OP wanted to in the first place. Hard line to draw, that's for sure.

There is never any excuse for ignorance.

I am just thankful that WP doesn't allow homophobic statements.
