I am one of those "Misfit Adults" I mentioned, and I actually like the "day-care center" feel of this website. Why should pre-schoolers have all the fun?

Of course :D they are the reason that moderators are essential. It's a psychological thing, some people thrive on dischord. Any internet platform decides on it's boundaries, and breechers of these boundaries are chastised by moderators, that's the name of the game. I would be interested to know statistically how many positive contributions, banned or warned members have made in threads other than politics.

Sounds like you are trying to patch up a condescending remark.
Nope. No condescension intended. Personal opinion only (albeit expressed or implied by others).

I mean, take an objective look at the dominant threads in "Love & Dating", "Politics, Philosophy & Religion" and "The Haven" and you'll see what I mean. WP is a great site for misfits to gather, vent, and disperse in a world that would otherwise reject them.

I can attest to that. With 4 "Board Warnings" since I first logged on, I'm still here. But many of those who have expressed racism, sexism, and/or open hostility toward other members have joined the ranks of "Those Whose Names Must Not Be Mentioned".
