So i take you were nominated?

So have I been told ... like I implied, I don't expect to be notified of selection.

Far as I know, a shortlist of 5 was handed to Alex. Dont know if all were supposed to be made mods, or if there was to be further selection. 3/5 have now retracted their offer. I'm prepared to retract my retraction, but I will not moderate under the absurd guidelines put forward by Alex.

I'm okay with Alex's guidelines, but he's not exactly forcing the mods to follow them to the letter, right?

I don't know, I've never been a mod. But I presume they're supposed to be followed.

I was actually walking two feet from the Woods today.....

What exactly are the absurd guidelines? How do they deviate from the site rules?

The suggestion I made to Alex was that he should initially select two or three from the shortlist of five (with those five being selected by the mods from a longlist of about ten who one way or another had agreed to hold the role). That left room for him rejecting some candidates or people withdrawing.

So of that list of five, only two remain. Fortunately some of the longlist were omitted from the shortlist on basically arbitrary grounds, so there are still a few contenders to select from. I'm also hoping that the former mod who has requested back in is still up for it.

I've been a mod (to a now-defunct website), and we were told that while The Rules were to be enforced, we were to use our own judgement as to when compassionate leniency was needed -- a person despondent over a personal loss and "drunk-posting" their hatred of the world might be treated better than the average troll who logs on looking for a fight.

It's a Nuisance to See Some of 'the Propaganda', Associated with
'Other Lives Matter' But for Now a Dude Got Shot 7 Times in the
Back and Folks Are Still taking Notice; Alex is Leaving no Room
For Anything But BLACK LIVES MATTER; it seems plain to see;
And he was also Clear if the Person is NOT RACIST
they may make their Case
to the Moderators
if they are
inappropriately
identified as such;
True; it's a Tough Rule
But What He's Saying
Is BLACK LIVES MATTER
HERE FOR REAL; if anything
else is intimated; Go somewhere else.

I'm talking about the thing about "claims of racism are never false and don't need to be justified", the expansion of what a racist slur is to include things that are demonstrably not racist slurs, plus the whole "someone who calls you a racist knows your mind better than you do, so prostrate yourself before your woke betters".

Or how about we have a army of mods, we used to have a bunch of them at once back in the day.

I see nothing absurd about them, but someone who would be offended for having their racist perspective and opinions called out might consider them absurd or even label them as "Snowflake Rules" to discredit them.

If calling out racism is made against The Rules, then racism will rise up and dominate this website unchallenged.

Surely, not the way i would Handle 'the Situation'.

But on the Other Hand; it wouldn't bother me anymore
if someone Called me Racist than all the other 'Ableist Names'
Folks have attempted to identify me with here as far as making
'Schizophrenia' into a Pejorative that way; yep i can name Names
and Probably Find the Quotes too; or Suggesting i need another Excuse
But Being 'Bi-Polar' for the Way i Write Free Verse Poetry that indeed was
very ableist and Happened recently enough where i've already Provided
the Truth and Evidence
that that Ableism
and Attempt at Bullying
Really Did Occur Here then
too; Particularly, indeed, because
i DO HAVE A Co-Morbid Condition of
Bi-Polar Disorder all my Life; and God Yes,
it's definitely a Plus that condition is considered
Scientifically Associated With Great Feats of Human
Creativity; Recently Higher IQ, too; and indeed in terms
of Science; Folks with Higher IQ will Navigate the 'Hypo-Frontality'
And Lower Inhibition of the 'Default System' of the Human Mind better that
Does not Filter Out Feelings and Senses of the Environment that so-called
'Normal' Folks don't have to Deal with in their Life; Surely, some relationship
there with the Sensory Difficulties associated, Generally, with some Autistic
Folks and Extreme Affective Empathy too; But not all; as some are rather Numb inside
this way on the opposite end of that Spectrum too; Yes, i do Spock and Van-Gogh Now
Too; But According to My Doctors and Psychotherapist, at Least, i do a Magnificent Job
of Making it through all the Fires of Life associated with the functional Difficulties

i found it Cringe Worthy and Lacking Human Empathy and i understood that condition too...

And That's why, Some Folks Here, also have no Clue they Are Being Racist; They Probably have no idea they are...

Time and Effort
Required to Explain
to them Why, What they
are Doing is Racist; Not unlike
Someone who makes an Ableist
Comment Derogatory; And Yeah

i didn't Know how to Spell the Urban
Dictionary Word 'Capice' as i was using it
as Slang; Just as Dry Humor; and actually
Agreeing with you on the issue we were discussing overall;

Welcome to the World of Autism; We Have to be much More
Patient to understand each other; but that is inherent to the Condition.

A 'Neurotypical' Moderator's Input into this Site will indeed be Beneficial this way...
