I point you to the comments that several people who have had past legal dealing with Alex Plank have posted on my blog

That is interesting - you might want to encourage them to do likewise if is that is the way you feel.

Surely Alex was not himself responsible for the posting of the article?

I'm sure for some people this forum is extremely important in their lives. For their sakes I hope the forum is not shut down.

You have to scroll the comments then follow the links to get what he is talking about. It turns out it is a tado about a link to a mirror site, that alex never made. The internet archive (archive.org) has a similar gravy train as search engines do except, they a probably more likely to get sued as they are less useful to the originator and hold the information for longer. In any case it is nothing to do with alex. Linking is not a crime.

Also if you post original stuff on here you nearly always forfeit your copy right. This is not because alex wants it, but in order for him to protect himself from being sued, which in the current climate it hardly surprising.

Have you consider becoming copy left? it has some advantages believe it or not.

I have yet to see any evidence of Alex bullying people to give up their intellectual property.

Well - all the moderation staff would have to do is remove the paragraph in question, but Alex has to make things more complex than that.

Did you ask the person in question and wait for them to respond? Have you asked alex and waited for him to respond? Was this before the takedown notice?

I always thought you could just put the articles in quotes, and show the
source under the quote. I guess there may be changes to the news board.

By the way, this is the internet. You can always have people copy and paste info of yours. Why wouldn't you sue the person who copied and pasted the stuff off your blog rather than the owner of this site? n***a, are you stupid?

That could be fun, but I'd be more inclined to ban the troll and delete his posts. Technically within the take-down that he's requesting, since the thread he started would be nixed, but in a way that backfires against him.

Something tells me that this is just a pathetic attempt to get back at WP for Zach's bitterness over whatever happened under his previous account.

BTW, Fnord, I like your new sig. Now you don't even have to write in a lot of your posts anymore, you can just quote the post you're responding to and let your sig save you time from typing your customary response.
