At some point, the site will not be based on old software - at which point the people developing the site may want to use this as a reference. However, many people don't understand that changes to the site's code *will not* be implemented until a new site is developed - and I would suspect that core features that break upstream software compatibility will also not be implemented for maintainability reasons.

Having said that, not all "site suggestions" have to be software issues - many people have suggested adding forum categories and other things that could, at least technically, be implemented right now without changing code.

Ok. Thanks for that. Makes sense :) in that case for when we get Jive, Lithium, a new PHPBB or VBulletin.... future suggestion would be..... to add a Thanks system for threads that are listed as a technical or personal problem and someone posts an acceptable solution.

I wish that when moderators deleted a thread they would leave a post about why they did it. For one, so we won't go looking for a thread that is not there and two because most of us are needing help understanding what we did that was wrong - even if we aren't the one that made the mistake it might help us learn better social skills.

Many of us have suggested that in the past. But it seems to generate an extremely negative, almost angry response from those who oppose it. Unfortunately I have given up hope that WP will ever have a "Thank You" system. Too many people here who don't like change.

Even those one-post threads that were removed after being reported via PM? Come to think of it ... I wonder how many of those there are.

Going back over the "Report to the Mods" thread may take some time, but does seem to reveal a lot of deleted threads.

I'd like to see a "Wall of Shame" listing those who have been permanently banned -- but that might hurt people's feelings.

I'd also like to see statistics on why people were banned (no names need be revealed), so as to provide another warning as to what is unacceptable behavior -- but that might require too much effort to compile.

I, for one, appreciate the efforts of our moderatorial overlords!

I'm sorry, I'm not seeing your reasoning here - Dare I ask why?

So that people would know who has been banned, and why.

Again, that might hurt too many feelings, and might also stir up a lot of unwanted second-guessing of the mods' wisdom; but at least no one would be asking "Whatever happened to so-and-so?"

You know, this site seems to be running slow as of late. How can we fix that?

Don't the mods accept PMs for questions about banned members?

I would like to see the banned badges below usernames, as can be seen with some older members. I expect that they have to be added manually though.

I like that idea better, as it shows right away that the person is no longer worth replying to or even sending a PM to.

Yes, some kind of visual indication in posts would be good. I think they probably do have to be added individually though, which would explain why the new moderators don't have their badges yet.

Something like this will probably come in the big site update when we are both dead and buried.

Maybe we could freeze ourselves for a few hundred years and by the time we are woken up we will have new software!

And it'll be phpBB 2.0.23 and people will still be complaining. :P

I'd like to see more options for 'diagnosis' under our edit profile. I had to put 'other autism spectrum disorder' even my diagnosis is not part of the autism spectrum. 'Other neurological condition' would be nice or 'neurodevelopmental disorder'.
