For a long while I thought with assumption that this plan to revamp Wrong Planet was disbanded, but it's great to see it finally coming into full effect and it's much better looking than this one. Just hoping it's more assiduous and that all of those iterative glitches will be evanesced forever.

Is the migration process pretty quick and easy, or is there any chance the site will end up locked in perpetuity and we'll be out of touch with our friends forever? 8O

(I trust not! I know you all are trying. :D )

Well, if something goes wrong with the new version during or after the migration we can just fall back to the old version until we fix the problem.

Thank you for doing this, Alex! And thanks for the reply! Cheers and best of luck with the migration! :D

Hopefully the new site will be faster, but otherwise I think I prefer it like this, glitches and all (which I rarely get anyway).

To people worried about the brightness, download a programme called f.lux. I couldn't use my laptop at night without it, especially for sites which have a load of white space (like the new WP will do).

I've been dealing with the whiteness/brightness/harshness the white trash way- by wearing sunglasses while in front of the puter. 8)

I am very happy that the site is upgrading but as others have stated the white and blue "facebook" color scheme is way too much for my sensory issues. The brightness is very hard on my eyes/brain. I quickly get migraines from websites who use these typical color layouts. It seems blue and white are the most popular website colors every website seems to use these two colors and it is exhausting for me. I mean the new layout is REALLY REALLY bright, even brighter than facebook.

I have a question, does the site take longer to load than the current one? I sometimes use dialup internet.

It should be much faster.

I could tell it will be just from the cleaner look it will have. Will also dump all the annoying side adds I constantly see, that would be a huge speed booster, or is that how you make the $$ need to keep the site going.

I do not see any adds but I use the add block plus add-ons from firefox.

it seems a lot of people are totally insensitive to bright, I ran into such at work when people would insist on turning on every single light [hospital] to where the patients complained it was too bright.

I live with chronic aura migraines and chronic cluster headaches, these are often triggered by lights, smells, and sounds and sensory overload. I wear earplugs most of the day and sunglasses even in the house. I have been in the hospital a lot and understand exactly what you mean. Not many people truly understand or are very compassionate to what it is like living with these sensitivities.

I do however have a program on my computer that is free to download called f.lux and it is pretty awesome although it doesn't really affect the websites that are mostly white.

Here is the link: F.lux link!

thank you LFL :) that sounds like a neat program :star: I just discovered on my laptop's keyboard two little buttons that adjust the brightness, I can turn it down to where it's barely light, I will try that on one of those blindingly white web pages.

I like it. Maybe I'll stop by more often, I do miss this place.

I've been looking forward to this for a very long time. Thank you, Alex. :)

Do we get to choose from a range of colour schemes?

pretty much every online community i've been on had the option to choose a theme. why should this one be an exception?

i mean, hopefully it's not.
