It sounds to me like no one solution of course will fit everybody.

I go back again to my simple ethos...If you don't like the thread, then don't post.

Each of us have our own particular favourites. As I said earlier...I don't particularly relate to the women's forum, but have no desire to see it obliterated...I've worked out the places I care to be.

If you can't find something that fits...then so be it.

As for parents of AS children...it would scare the bejesus out of me if I read some of the stuff that is written here. Which is my point...find a couple of places you feel comfortable with and work with that...

I see at this moment there are 10,793 members...you can't please all of the people all of the time...if you are really keen and motivated to truly connect with AS people, and feel let down by the resources here, start your own support group.

What aboout "Autism: lifelong experiences and discussion ". That would avoid putting a rigid threshold like 30+ and encourage some discussion in depth. Would this come near to what many of us seem to need?

lau, those are great. I have one too..

"cooking for the socially unorthodox: powertool deliciousness", in which experienced(or just novel) aspies contribute interesting and simple meals, possibly with inappropriate utensils.

Dino-Cafe seems to be the best name, with a descriptive disclaimer that anyone may read/post.

Unlike Postpaleo, I don't want to understand your point of view, I'm getting sick of seeing you all over the place.

You sure are a polite one.
Just because our styles of
posting differ, there is no
need to be a complete
ass.

Or is it just that I disagree
with your views?

I'm afraid it may merely be that Bazza has slightly less tolerance for your lack of view or thought. You have been posting huge posts decrying the lengths of posts in the Dino Cafe. Sooner or later, someone was going to lose patience with you and request that you found somewhere else to witter.

I'm also not in a good mood today.

PS. Why do you have to stretch your messages vertically down my screen? I find that most irritating. On the other hand, I suppose, it does generally alert me to a chunk of stuff for skipping past.

Actually, I'm rather glad to see the criticism.

The length of my posts, in terms of
the size of page space, is the same,
but the total word count is less. I DON'T
object to the long posts; I just can't read
through them all. Some find them more
pleasing, I'm sure. One of the big advantages
of the new forum is that I doubt that many
threads will be able to maintain the seriousness
that such long posts require.

Sorry about your mood. We all get pissy.

My posting style, why? I don't know. I know
that I find it very difficult to read posts which
stretch more than half the screen, but something
seems to have clicked, and I started playing with
other forms. Mainly, I find them more readable
and easier to deal with.

The hope is that the special interests already cover this.
If you have an obsession which doesn't fit into one of
them directly, choose what is closest.

See your point, but unfortunately not every obsession/interest would have a category or even one remotely covering it.

I prefer to call them interests as obsession has a rather negative connotation and is usually used by NTs about people with AS in a negative way, but for the sake of discussion, obsessions will do, so we all know what we're talking about.

For example, where would I put my obsession with medieval tapestry?

(No rude suggestions here, please, lol) You see my point though?

I think this is a good idea Paolo, it would do away with the feeling of exclusion suggested by the 30+ tag.

Yeah. I understand completely, but I'm not sure where it might fit.
My obsession fits well under sports/games, but no-one else is interested
in it. I almost feel that these are beyond what we can handle.

(My emphasis)

You might be right. I started a thread about an obsessions forum a while ago and so did CockneyRebel. It had mixed responses, but the concensus view was generally positive.

I think that the question of having an obsessions forum would justify a new discussion some time, but I'm sorry I dragged this topic slightly off course. (I get a little over-enthusiastic sometimes, lol)

For now though, are we any neared getting the new forums already discussed in this thread?
