Are there members here who are nazis
If I was alive in 1920s the democrat party would have wanted me neutered so my bad genes don’t reproduce.
Many of those people joined the republican party in the great re-alignment during the southern strategy. Both parties have changed dramatically since the 20's. Nobody supports eugenics or slavery anymore.
You can barely conceal your hatred for the ideas of other people (don't deflect and go on about how "leftists" do this... I am talking to you). Maybe democrats are people just like you with different ideas. Why not TRY to understand them?
Oh, and they call themselves the Democratic party not the Democrat party. This is exactly what I am talking about when I say trolling.
It is just as bad as "leftists" going around shouting "neo-fascist reactionary" at Republicans (not the Republic Party) That is just as boring and boorish.
Can you just keep this to yourself or go "own libs" somewhere else?
It adds nothing to the conversation. We have all heard it like a bijillion times before. This is a place where we can support each other. Attacking another person's beliefs and party affiliation makes that impossible.
If I want to hear this, I will watch Fox news.
If you drive a Ford you are a Nazi sympathizer. I have a Chevy.

I drove a hyundai for a while. I think it was the best car I've ever owned. It was either a 96 or 97 elantra. Bought it for $200 with 110,000 miles on it and drove it for a few years without needing to do anything other than basic maintenance. It had about 330,000 miles on it when I gave it away the second time and still didn't have anything wrong with it.
Sly doesn’t believe in gun control. If Trump would enact gun control legislation, he would hate him, too.
If a Democrat would uphold the 2nd Amendment, he would support that Democrat.
But yet he is worried about an unstable person pulling a gun out on him.

Is it an IS or an SC? If so, that would make you a lucky sob.

Broke.
Since when were Toyotas expensive to maintain? They're usually pretty bulletproof, at least the older ones.

I was looking it as old high mileage model ,not expensive as in repairs. However most mechanics don’t work for free.
If you’re broke you drive an old high miles car, not quite old enough to be vintage.
Mine has a bit over 100,000 on it.
It has an evil history and used to be a fleet truck for a fracking company. It was purchased from an auction.

I'm taking the repairs and all into account though, at least as far as Corollas, Camrys and the SC/GS/IS/bigger rear wheel drive ones are known.
Yours is a Tacoma or a Tundra I assume? I wonder if it's a lemon or if that model maybe has issues even though their trucks get the same general rep as durable. I know they're not all 80s era Hilux reliable, no brand is that good.

We call our country "Land of the free".
On this forum, I have seen Europe/Canada/UK ...
1) have much less free speech
2) much higher taxes
3) life choices are more restricted by government
4) living is condensed (crowded): small cars, small homes, living close together
1. American can say hateful racist things and it's not a "speech hate crime".
2. Americans can easily earn $150,000 per year and take deductions to pay little tax.
3. If a poor performing student in the US wants to become a brain surgeon, it's never too late.
4. Go big and buy that big McMansion with acres of land. Get yourself a big gas guzzler vehicle too. You're an American after all.

So, the best part of being an American is opportunity.
But that's false, isn't it? It's the Land of the Theoretically Free. Everyone can, in theory, become a billionaire. But in fact the chances of that are miniscule because everything is rigged against you from the outset, by the people who are already billionaires and thus control the whole picture. Europe has more of those nasty anti-exploitation restrictions so you can't rip your own people off to quite the same extent. It still goes on, but not to the same degree. A basic scan of the US wealth equality graph shows you the situation. The top 10% of Americans own 70% of the country's wealth and manage everything so the gap increases all the time. The bottom 50% of the population own 1.6% of the nation's net worth (2019 figures). So financial freedom is a myth for starters. Debt is a very effective means of control - it keeps people passive, obedient and subservient.
In Europe we have a concept called "society". You may have heard of it? Which means giving up some individual liberty in order to prioritise the common good. For example we work together to provide healthcare for people that need it, rather than ripping them off for profit or leaving them to die. We generally avoid automatic weapons in schools. We prioritize public transport so our children will still be able to breathe, because petrolhead nihilism is ultimately destructive. Again, that's not to say we're perfect, but we keep things rather more in proportion. If we ARE being antisocial we normally have the guts to own up to it, rather than claiming some sort of divine right to be an asshat. And we don't swallow every madcap conspiracy theory than comes our way, either.
We don't allow parasitic, hypocritical religious nutters to influence policy-making. In my country if we want an ill-informed opinion we can always ask the royal family for a quick soundbite, but in general they have enough sense not to get involved.
The UK is actually one of the worst nations in Europe for fairness, but that's largely because our ruling class have been trying to emulate the States for years. Why? Because it's in their interests to have a largely weak, powerless electorate who don't believe they're weak and powerless, and are happy to be dropped crumbs off the top table. If you want a better role model look at the Scandanavian nations (though perhaps not Sweden atm, as they've gambled disasterously with Covid-19). The politics of Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Iceland and Greenland make little sense to us in England and would strike the average American as absolutely insane. They are, by our standards, very right wing on some issues and very liberal / left wing on others. And yet it works. Best living standards in the world, but then they aren't free to gun down young black kids, and is surrendering your liberty like that really worth it eh?
And that's the inherent irony of the States. "Freedom to do as I please" can be just another way of saying "Me first and screw you", and if everybody believes that, the whole show is going nowhere. Socio-economic divide and conquer. We'll give you just enough incentive to keep trying, and keep fighting among yourselves, but never enough to stop....
And that brings us to the freedom of ideas. It strikes me that America is the land of the free only provided you express your freedom by agreeing with every other American. Clear, original thinking is positively discouraged. For example, if the US is really so free, why is it constantly at war, and why are there so many Police officers "keeping the peace". From what, exactly? The debate in America is constantly stifled. It seems Americans don't really understand or express anything beyond a very narrow window of ideas between Democrat and Republican. Actual free-thinking is very rarely given a chance. The politicians and the press choose what you're going to think (on behalf of big business) and there is hell to pay when anyone steps outside those incredibly narrow parameters. You could look up Althusser's theories on the soft power of the Ideological State Apparatus, but I wouldn't do it from the States because you'll end up with the CIA under your bed, protecting your freedom.
Public healthcare? COMMUNISM!! !
Equal rights for all? COMMUNISM!! !
Gay marriage? COMMUNISM!! !
Abortion and women's rights? COMMUNISM!! !
Gun control? COMMUNISM!! !
And we don't want any pinko lefty nonsense creeping in because then we'll all be controlled and oppressed, and we won't be able to make our own decisions about things like, oooh I dunno, healthcare, gay marriage and guns. And we won't own our own homes or cars or possessions, they'll all be owned by someone else and we'll have to work for them all our lives. And there will be soldiers and fences around the White House to keep the Commie Dictators safe from the people, and that'll be a travesty of democratic representational justice.
Uh, WHAT?
The biggest irony of all this is Trump telling everyone he's somehow setting them free, when actually he's ring-fencing power and wealth for his wealthiest of friends. But it's ok, because we're all freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Nope, you're stuck in The Matrix, and you can't see it yet. The freedom is a myth.
