Hmmm...from seeing his email address, i'm thinking that that is the old WP member Thezach, who was banned and then became Theface. he was a jerk, and if it's him he's obviously just trying to stir up trouble and cause problems for alex and WP.

No, I'm not. And google provides a way of removing your website from their cache and indexing if you wish. The point remains that its removed within 24 hours of the complaint or lawsuit. I don't think he has a case either and I doubt it will go any further because he doesn't have any money to actually file a complaint. Check this out.

By the way, we haven't heard from him in awhile. I hope that means that this latest sock puppet has been banned too.

Taking it down sure would be easier. That's why it is such a common response to such demands, even when the demand is obviously frivolous or vexatious.

I commend those who are willing to give up their resources to resist unreasonable and detrimental DMCA take-down notices. The effort may indeed not be worth it for the individual (given the ease of simply removing the content), which is why the rest of us who benefit from such efforts should be all the more grateful to those willing to put themselves out to avoid caving to unreasonable demands.

The way in which defending oneself against even the most unjustified and spurious DMCA take-down attempt, costs more than is worthwhile given the ease of simply caving and removing the material, should be of concern to all who value freedom of speech and the dissemination and free sharing of information.

More people should stand up to frivolous and unreasonable DMCA take-down notices, although it's easy to understand why they do not.
