Are mods kept an eye on? How are they selected? Any vetting?

Oh course I could take this another way, it is kind of validating to my original point now that I think about it.

I have often read posts of my own which seem very different to me over time from when I first wrote them, perhaps that is not unusual on WP. Everyone has different moods at different times, and more intense mood states have some effect on what most members post at times.

You're human, who would've thunk?

Also, if you place time into perspective, we as people grow or change, or go through good and bad times in our lives. This might be reflected in our posts and how we handle situations over that time.

@ The_Walrus: Could you please tell me what is the meaning of this (your) post?

http://wrongplanet.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=330125&p=7313095#p7313095

I did a search of Jacoby's posts, and he only has 3 posts on the first page of the PPR forum; two, say "yesterday" (date posted--at the time of this writing), and one says "Oct 1". One is about what Hillary thinks about Bernie supporters; one is about Hillary's server; and, one is about Julian Assange.

Questions:

How do these threads break the "no more than three threads-a-day" PPR rule?
How do these threads break the "no duplicate threads" rule?

My impression is that Jacoby lodges more posts in PPR debates than any other current member. He seems to be the most frequent poster on the front page and in that forum as a whole. Only a few members come even close to his output there.

I made two threads 23 and half hours after I made one previously apparently. Walrus has his own ideological leanings and also has a lot of pressure on him from folks that he is more inclined to agree with on the other side to be 'fair' because their posts often don't fit the standard of the forum and have to get deleted/closed therefor it must be taken out on me or else they start screaming he's some secret moon Nazi. It would be a tough position for anybody so I understand the need to placate certain belligerents.

I make a lot of posts in PPR, the topics are a special interest usually of mine and I enjoy writing and the rhetorical jousting involved. I really don't create that many threads and most of posts are pretty substantive and long, I've been trying keep it more consolidated and to keep it out of other sections while I participate in them.

Other posters have just as many posts as me and some many more over fewer years, maybe I am the most active currently? I don't know, yeah I need to get a life! Easier said than done!

AFAIK there is no limit on the number of posts a member can make in any forum or thread, subject to posting within the rules, and not posting just to post (which you don't appear to do).

PPR has a policy of no more than 2 threads per 24 per hours because certain members will spam the forum with inane topics with no intention of participating in them otherwise, this wasn't really enforced for a long time and I raised the issue earlier this year when it was becoming a problem so I guess I have to concede the point since I technically violated the policy altho it was 23.5 hours later.

If we are being fair then I hope to see the angry troll threads continue to be closed and to put a stop to personal attacks. I don't understand why somebody even post in PPR if they have no interest in participating and having dialogue. Some people are very emotional beings, a lot of people believe everything the media and if you that then you'll probably be pretty triggered 24/7.

Two threads per day rule? this is news to me..
Somethings must have changed since I was last here, way back when I at times was all over the place and no one ever said anything to me about it. I may should go back and read the rules for any changes instead of assuming their the same as a few years ago.

:</

BTW Alex, I would still love to have my original account back, AspergianMutent, the date joined would reflect how long I been around, in which case I was amongst the first few hundred to join WP.

AsFarAsIKnow = AFAIK
PPR is the politics, philosophy and religion subforum
It has a sticky on the rules at the top of the forum, and includes this additional guideline posted in 2015:

The_Walrus wrote:
PPR now has a limit on new thread creation in order to discourage low-quality threads. A given user may make two new threads every 24 hours. Any additional threads that user makes will be locked.

Moderators will try to take a common-sense position on this issue. For example, if you make two threads and then are the first to post when the Pope is assassinated, we won't lock it.

If this rule is not working then it will be adjusted at the moderators' discretion.

OK I goofed, I thought the oldest of the threads was the same age because I hadn't seen it until you bumped it.

Really? Here are the two OPs:

Thread Title: "'Wednesday Hillary Clinton is done' Assange to speak Tuesday"

OP: "Julian Assange will be making an announcement from the balcony at the Ecuadorian embassy in London which is Wikileaks 10th anniversary. He's been pretty much saying flat out that he has an October surprise for Hillary for a long time now, wonder if he'll deliver. In fact Assange has said that he had information that would put Hillary in prison altho I think he overestimates our commitment to the rule of law."

I do not see the word "server", in that paragraph. Even in the linked article, it's talking about when Julian Assange leaked Hillary's emails----AND, it's a present-day event.

************************************************************************

Thread Title: "Hillary reveals email fears back in 2000"

OP: "Don't you know that private server was all for convenience to separate her yoga routines from work emails, gosh!

Definitely not to skirt open government laws..."

This second thread is talking about how Hillary had email fears, in 2000----this is a PAST event.

Please tell me how they are the same?
