I don't mean to be rude about this, but aren't 9 stickies on this forum a bit excessive? Maybe it's time for some of the older threads to be unstuck?

I check WP from a mobile device and have to scroll through all of them each time I check the forum. Maybe there's a way for me to exclude certain ones from view?

I think maybe you should post this on the WrongPlanet.net discussion forum instead of posting it here.

It's this forum specifically to which I am referring. But whatever. If a moderator so chooses to move this thread because that's where it's more appropriate, I have no qualms about it.

I've seen other forums consolidate older stickies into a single sticky with links to the older ones.. That way they'd still be easy to find.

Apparently, the thread was moved but nothing added to indicate what forum is meant. Indeed, the only reason I know it wasn't the forum it's in now is because that forum is mentioned as a different forum. Bad moderating, in my opinion.

ok, so what discussion group were you in when you posted it? I will take a look at it and see what I can do.

This was General Autism Discussion. There were two stickies added in the last week, which is fine... but it seems like maybe some of the older ones should be culled?

That would be a good idea. A forum of just stickies. They are getting a bit too overwhelming in some forums - it is tedious continually scrolling down past them to get to the latest posts.

Isn't that what I said? Or did you mean a separate forum of stickies?
I've seen other forums that when they have too many stickies, then make a single sticky that has links to all of the other stickies.. Like everything besides the posting of rules could go into a single "Stickies" sticky that's just a list of links to the stickies.
Some forums seem to have the ability to have a separate list for announcements and stuff that's not part of the list of posts, but I'm guessing that that's not part of the WP programming.

I was gonna ask if Lau, God Of Firefox, knew of a plug-in that would do what Fiddler is asking (since most things that I've asked about have had a plug-in solution,) but that's probably not gonna work on a mobile device.. (depending on the mobile device, I guess.. But I'm thinking that she means something more along the lines of phone than a netbook..)

that is easily done by making one sticky at the top of the list and putting all the other stickies in that thread. Good idea, Maggiedoll. I will try it on this discussion list, first.

Oops.. and I messed up the opening quote but if I fix my post it'll still be quoted wrong in yours.

Wasn't my idea, though.. just seen it done on other forums where there got to be too long a list of stickies. It's that information-age problem of always wanting to bookmark and sort everything, then ending up with too many bookmarks to be able to find things!
There's a rather cool Firefox plug-in called Wired-Marker that helps with that, where you can highlight things in various different colors and then the highlighted bits work like bookmarks in folders of the colors (and you can re-name the colors into folder names, too..) That eventually gets to the same problem of wanting to remember everything, though.

that sounds like an organizer's dream! Maggiedoll. It sounds like the perfect solution for any forum. I have often thought that what WP needs is a good searchable index.

I am in a recovery group for 'wanting to remember anything' disorder. /jk

I'm in the same group, well I think I am, I've forgotten. I'm supposed to go to meetings each week but have forgotten where they are held. Not that it matters because I forget to go anyway. :?
