My current hosting is with iNetU. I love their service but the price is getting to be kinda steep. It looks like someone like VPS.net could provide more processing power, bandwidth, and storage, for half the price. Rackspace maybe? or is what I'm paying pretty standard?

You might want to check out hostgator.com. We have been using them for about three years.

i'm not concerned about bandwidth. I'm concerned with processing power. at least 4 processors per server (two dual core xeons) or equivalent.

Please don't get mad at me for bringing this up, but I was thinking again that maybe you could cut costs by lowering bandwidth with an active program of archiving old threads or outright deleting them. Outright deleting large portions of the forum may seem draconian, but it may be better than having to pay more.

Please don't get angry.

May I most politely ask why?

By the way, would it be possible in any fashion to switch to a proboards model? Where the forum is a free, out of the box type of hosting? Or does WrongPlanet's amount of bandwidth used far exceed the limits to proboards?

I got curious and and decided too look up some hosting sites, I found one at RackspaceCloud which uses Cloud Servers,
the prices are quite reasonable starting at $11 per month,

Vashna,
I don't speak for Alex, but this forum and all the millions of posts on it is a cultural treasure. Nothing like this ever was before and can never be again. In it reposes the story of nameless faceless people that have finally found an a way to express themselves. Deleting any of it would be betraying those people that chronicled their lives here.

It is better to get a something that can serve it all. :D
