I would like to start a thread as to some hints that get people to respond to the posts that you have made. One of my pet peeves about message boards is that I will post something, many people will look at, but very few, if anyone responds. I think that others probably have the same problem.

I would love to hear everyone's hints and ideas.

Well, in my post titled Pokémon discussion (link here), I asked questions, gave my answer to those questions, and ended by asking what other people's answers to those questions were.

I'm lucky enough that I have people to talk about my interests with here, but others may not share your special interest or even know enough about it to start a discussion. That could be why nobody is answering.

That's also one of my pet peeves here too. I hate making a thread and it gets a very few responses. That's why I come here because they get more responses. I feel hated when anyone hardly replies. I used to think lot of people didn't like me here but I stayed because I didn't care. Then I realized I have fans and people do like me and I got a PM telling me I am very well liked. But I wonder why my appreciation thread didn't get lot of posts or votes in 2008, same as my name not being mentioned in posts but I felt real happy when I got mentioned in "Which WP member would you like to meet?"

Then I remember seeing a thread by members and they also felt disliked here and I felt so much better. I wasn't alone.

Most of my threads get replies and very few of them get none or very little. It's my special interest that won't get many replies.

OP Write something interesting and discussion worthy to others. If people don't like what you have written they won't and don't have to respond. No tricks in doing this.

You could always ask a common question, sometimes that might actually get you a high amount of post counts. :D
But also you could the best area to get high amounts of post is the General and the Random section...

You actually seem to get a pretty good amount of responses. :)

A few tips:

1. What you post must be of interest to other people.

2. Ask questions and for opinions of others.

3. Keep it short and don't use long paragraphs. If people are presented with a huge wall of text they tend to just close the post or only skim a few lines from it.

4. Make the subject line interesting, relevant to the post and ideally in the form of a question.

There was a member here who used to post provoking thread titles or misleading ones for attention. But his posts be something different.

Post something that people are likely to vigorously disagree with.
