Not receiving e-mail notifications

I am set up to receive e-mail notifications if someone replies to a thread I posted in. Lately I have not been getting any notifications. Is there something wrong with that feature?

I've been having the same problem for the last few days.

Like right now, it did not notify me by e-mail, if I had not been on here, I would never have known

I'm not getting notifications either, and the box "Notify me when a reply is posted" is marked. I read some members were getting unwanted notifications, so perhaps this is transitory. But otherwise it would seem to be an "all or nothing" kinda situation...

I wonder if we can get a moderator to reply to this thread and tell us what is going on?

Eventually they probably will, it is a technical site issue.

Also, I noticed my avatar is missing?

The only person who can resolve or answer systemic issues such as what you are experiencing at this time is Alex. You can PM him, email him, IM him, contact him on Facebook, or call him using the link at the bottom of every WP page. You can even try the "Contact Us" link at the top of the page. However, I would caution that any response you receive may not be immediate.

At random, it seems, you will find that you get dropped off a thread, and it reverts to showing the "Watch this thread for replies" link. Note: the links will ONLY work if you take them on page one of a thread. Alex is not looking into this.

If it is still showing you the "Stop watching this thread for replies" link, then this is not the problem.

One possibility is that your mail server is helpfully throwing away some, or all, emails coming from Wrong Planet. This is quite likely. There seems to be a great deal of overenthusiastic "spam filtering" being used, these days.

At present, I do receive thread notifications, but I have not received any PM notifications since Christmas, except for a single one on 2nd Feb. I have no idea why I get the former emails, but not the latter. Alex is not looking into this.

It does say stop watching topic.

This is really irritating as it just stopped all of a sudden.

My e-mail server is not the problem as I have it set to recognize mail from this as safe, so I don't know what else I can do...

do you have hotmail or yahoo? I know that those email programs do not support getting notifications from WrongPlanet. I had them both and only gmail will send me the notifications. I mean, it lets me register with those programs, then it stops and no amount of tweaking got it to work again.

I have hotmail. As for them not accepting e-mails from here, this is the first I am hearing of it as I have been on here since 2008 and not had an issue until now. I have been recieveing my notifications as intended by Alex when he designed the site with no problem with my hotmail address. I just cannot figure this out since I have not had a problem with this for nearly 2 years now and boom out of the blue it just happens

You're mistaken. I am looking into this.

I used hotmail for over 11 years. I used hotmail for WP until sometime last year when I had to change to gmail because it stopped sending me WP notifications one day and no amount of tweaking would get it to accept them again

Same thing happened when I changed over to my 9 year old Yahoo account. I had to get gmail and I get all notifications since.

(shrug) I didn't say I understood it, I just know it happens
