I was looking for conferences on OASIS (sadly there are none in Hawaii - what's up with that?) Anyway, I was thinking two things.
1. What do you think about having a WP sponsored conference? Could make money, get lots of attention, have it in DC area for political attention, and we could all meet each other. I'd be happy to help organize if you are interested.
2. I didn't see a link to WP on OASIS. I think there should be one.

I've been working on planning a Asperger conference which would be in DC and would occur in April. I have the backing of a major university in the area for space and *some* discretionary spending, but we haven't really started planning it yet.

wow, thats GREAT. would it have lots of people from WP`?
would people from WP speak?
i am defenately going, even if it means a 10 hour flight..

April isn't that far away. You better give people at LEAST six weeks to make travel plans.

what is OASIS an what happens at these conferences? Is it a collection of lots of smaller organizations (like commercial exhibitions, special interest conventions) , or more of a carefully orchestrated presentation to a large audience (like a party political conference).

Ok, with OASIS they're whole thing is that they're all Delphi forums - pretty much everything on Barb Kirby's webring is that same forum format (I was on Aspie Hangout for a long time before I was here).

And Alex, for what your talking about with a DC meeting or convention, do you mean April of 2007? If you've got that much backing to do something like this you might wanna handle it like that and really get decked out, make the most of the planning, get some people to help you plan the venue and setup, get the guest speakers, and you'll probably pull a much bigger aspie crowd as well if you paper all the sites on this one as well. Seriously, if you have the name power and the resources you'd definitely wanna make the most of it the first time because it may or may not be there for a retry. Hope that doesn't sound preachy, I just really wanna see something like that succeed bigtime.
