So, like, there's this real squeaky voice that says "Help me" whenever you load most of the pages. Could we just make it do that only on the front page so I don't start getting the urge to throw stuff and potentially damage my PC? I wanna wring the neck that contains that voice! Make it stop!

I find it interesting considering that's what we need sometimes.

You and I are in total agreement.

Kill it, please. It's extremely irritating at the best of times.

Eureka. I just found out the source of that annoying "Help me." It's the ad for some 3D thing in the lower left of most pages. I don't know how possible it is to replace that ad, but some of us would sure appreciate it.

Please replace or eliminate the "help me" sound. I hate it. It aggravates me, and likely a lot of other people.

A squeaky voice saying, "Help me," would drive me crazy too.

Do you have Firefox? I don't hear the "Help me," because I have Firefox and I installed that Adblock someone suggested when we were invaded by those awful green Intellitext ads.

No Script:
https://addons.mozilla.org/extensions/m ... on=firefox

Ad blocker:
https://addons.mozilla.org/extensions/m ... on=firefox

I still get some ads, but not the really annoying ones, so I am happy with it. I like the ads I still get.

If you have Firefox, you could try it. I am pretty computer-illiterate and I was able to do it.

I wish people wouldn't block ads. I can disable that ad. Sorry I took so long to see this.

I find many of the ads to be either offensive, insensitive or completely irrelevant. I saw one pushing a "herbal remedy for autism", for example. Even if I supported the cureby point of view, "snake oil salesmen" are something to be avoided.

If you're getting paid based on click-through then blocking ads I would never EVER click on isn't costing you anything and increases my enjoyment of the site. It also loads and renders much faster when I don't have to download external images (both advertising and avatars) and run javascript programs.

If you're getting paid per-download then I'd consider using "hide ads" instead of "block ads" so you still get paid. Given the technology war against advertising, though, don't expect pay-per-download financial models to last very long because the advertisers know many of those downloaded ads are never displayed.

It's kind of ironic that you need ads to pay for bandwidth, when the javascript that inserts those ads takes up so much of the bandwidth in the first place. BTW, there are free css optimizers that can make your pages much smaller.

The ads are hosted by another server. I can just include one line and it will call the other server to insert the rest. Bandwidth is probably the last thing we worry about in terms of finance.

Alex, Thank you for eliminating that ad.
