OK I think it may be time to address this seriously.
What do we need here in a Mod? Look at the choices in the past and think to the future of WP.
Now firstly those crappy mods who will remain nameless I had issue with and publicly attacked them mods.
This is actually a good thing. Why? If I am the type of person who has issue with the type of people that for reasons that have come to pass proved correct then surely this endorses the fact that I am against the things that made them undesirable.
Also shows that I am both intelligent enough to pick up when something is not right and strong enough in personality to defend against such things and risk my account for the good of defending a value worth defending.
I am also a long term member. No fly by night.
I am not afraid to back a decision or valued judgment and unlikely to flip flop over an action.
I am by my own opinion totally awesome and in this back myself 100%
I am not fearful of people and of going against the grain.
I have been on Aspie sites for a long time and can lend my experience here.
I am not fazed by efforts to troll or flame me. I am not emo and given to overreact.
I am middle-aged and been around the block a few times.
I think you need strong self detirmined people here and I am where it is at.
I am diagnosed as Aspies and will be the rest of my life.
I am probably about the best thing on this site and that alone oughtto give me a big boost in credibility alone.

Please consider

I've known Ross for, ooh, three years now?

In that time, I've seen him spot trolls that actual modmins (including myself) have missed, pick apart arguments by supremacists point by point and headbutt his way through brick walls with strength of stubbornness alone.

I've also seen him in action as a mod on several other sites, and I feel that he has done a fantastic job each time - I would pick him for the job in a heartbeat.

However, I also consider him my friend, so I am hardly impartial. As for myself, I'm an admin (new tab) over at another aspie site. Whether or not that adds weight to my words or no is completely up to you.

I would love you as a mod but now that you have asked to be one, now it's 100% unlikely you will be one.

I am only saying this because I have known you for three years and trust you.

It that's true, then I think it's a shame. I think rossc would do a very good job as a mod here.

I think I could consider him as a moderator, I've known him for some time and I was considering him as the new mod since he seems to be so open and so fair when it comes to his opinions as I said before.

I'm I know I feel I can trust him.

I wouldn't. Sorry Rossc, it's nothing personal but I think people that want power (especially anonymous power) generally don't handle it very well.

Also, just judging from this post alone, you view yourself quite...favourably and denigrate those that disagree with you; probably not a great trait in a mod as it comes across as arrogant and inflexible.

I had to vote no.

It's Alex's site. He should grant that power to whomever he trusts to do the job.

While I take no issue with you rossc, and you might even be a pretty decent person and make a decent moderator, generally asking for a mod position never helps. I agree we need more moderators, a good few more. But asking in and of itself leads people (not necessarily us, just speaking in general here) to believe that you want some degree of forum power for whatever reason.

Please continue to be a productive and supportive member, be kind, helpful in the best ways you can. I also would give the same advice to everyone else.

This is true; however, and speaking as an admin myself, sometimes it's good to get the opinions and suggestions of your forum populace - especially with Moderators, you need to pick someone you know that people respect and will listen to.

Quite how I ended up with the job over at AFF is beyond me 8O

True... provided it's actual members here that are voting in this. I've seen the thread about this at I2 and I don't think it's a good idea for people from other forums to attempt to rig the vote here. Not that it really matters anyway, but it shows how this sort of thing was flawed from the start.

And again, you make a good point; however, reading into the thread, you'll see how I am against any rigging of the vote, and how I was agreed with - there will be no vote tampering, at least not from the overlapping portion of the membership between WP and I^2. Personally, I'm too busy with AFF to give WP more than the occasional cursory glance, but I am a longstanding (if infrequently posting) member.

Speaking truly and honestly - I meant what I said above, Ross would be a good moderator and he has a history of being such, as well as a strong poster and contributor.

I think that Hyke, one of the Admins from Spectrumites has an account here someplace, and I'm also positive she'd also strongly recommend Ross for the position.

I've known Ross for about... 2 years now.

He would definately be a good choice for moderator , He doesnt revel in his power like some moderators may do he is caring and honest yet tough when he needs to be.

WP would be making a good decision if they add this guy as a mod :D

No.

I think Alex would want someone who has proven past loyalty to this site and community within it.
