can't chat

I've downloaded Java, tried to chat but I just keep getting 'unsafe' warnings which is putting me off so how do I manage to chat online? Can anyone help please?

you have to allow the applet to load or you won't be able to chat.

Thanks for your quick reply but I'm still confused, not very (at all) computer literate so can you explain with a bit more detail please? sorry...

Follow the instructions on the chat page and it should work. Otherwise instal an IRC client and use that to connect.

I, too, am not able to get either method to work. I would really like to see a chat I can enter with one click, like on another forum I belong to. WP chat hasn't worked for me in the year and a half I've been here.

Chatting is something I've suddenly come to enjoy a lot. I was afraid to do it for a long time, because it can be chaotic and unpredictable (like real conversation!), but I'm finally getting into my comfort zone with it. I feel like I'm building my skills for real life conversation, and I think a lot of WP members who've never tried it would benefit from the experience. It could be a real asset to this community if chat were more accessible.
