The largest online autism forum seems to be being controlled by Autism Speaks.

Dude, have you looked around the board? There are plenty of people bashing Autism Speaks and they aren't getting banned. Take off the tinfoil hat.

If it's just paranoia then how come someone who worked at Autism Speaks was able to get Wrong Planet to take down a post they didn't like?

No, not getting banned, just having their posts deleted.

But, that doesn't answer the question. Should WP become a community owned by its members?

No such action is even possible -- that question is completely ridiculous.

That perception is understandable, but absolutely nobody can "control" those of us who post here.

WP does not belong to the people that post here. If it compromises its integrity then those that care about that will go elsewhere.

It does beg the question "If there were a truly free and open autism forum, would posts praising Autism Speaks be allowed?"

Freedom of speech cuts both ways.

One word: yes.

Doing the Right Thing isn't always easy.

Uh, yeah. Let's have an Internet mutiny because you don't like the way someone operates a website which THEY OWN. Read the WP Rules - they're a sticky for a reason - and you'll find that: a) troll posts are prohibited; b) trashing other sites is prohibited, and; c) WP reserves the right to remove any posts which WP deems to be inappropriate. There is nothing there indicating that you had free speech on WP to begin with, so what makes you think it's being taken away?

I don't know what's got you so butthurt, but, FFS, get over it.

Countdown to this troll thread getting deleted: 10 . . . 9 . . . 8 . . .
