So, what, we're meant to like threads? I seriously don't see the point in this, or who's gonna use it.

If I'm wrong, prove it in the poll.

Im sure enough people with use it for it to have decent functionality.

Mmmm, I might use it, not sure I want to mix my WP up with my Facebook. Sometimes I like something someone wrote, but don't have anything to add, a like button is good for that.

hmmm no I won't use it since I really don't want people in my friends list reading what I or others have to say here, seems like a major privacy issue using the Like buttons
I am sure members here don't want their dirty laundry aired from the Adult section either

Threads that make critical dismissals or popularity out of members or their opinions/writings have been discouraged on WP for years. Now members are going to be able to judge other members with a thumbs up and a thumbs down and no explanation at all.

For a group of folks that have major issues with how others perceive them I can't see this as a positive feature.

It's the website where NTs are stuffed with adds and pointless games and are getting stuck with the people they did not remember

This worries me a lot! I just canceled an account on another forum because of this. I didn't realize that this issue existed here as well. Why the hell is Facebook in EVERYTHING? :x :( Do we, as subscribers, have any say in this at all?

lol, I could ask the same question. I know a lot of it, but i never joined it.

To be honest, I would like to know more about how the like button works. Would it encourage some NTs to find this forum through people's facebook pages, read threads here, and start mocking us. It would be like having Nelson here, saying:

It's completely useless. Some aspie will probably start liking all the threads they read on Facebook and then get followed back here and their anonymity is ruined. I highly doubt most people here want their family and friends reading their posts here. There's lots of family and personal issues that get posted here.

I'd ask for it to be removed but that will never happen. Alex only seems to want to add the features he wants, without even letting us know about them or taking the greater interest of the community in mind.

Your implying we can take it or leave it, your denying these members their privacy, who here wants their problems plastered all over Facebook, its means members can't talk with some relative anonymity on what is supposed to be a support forum, whats to stop
someone from posting a members deeply personal problems to FB for the world to see.

I absolutely hate it.

Alex, thanks for spending time updating the site; some of the new features are really cool, but the like button sucks big time.

I'm terrified that one day I will forget to log out of my facebook account and later on accidently press 'like' on an article here (linking everyone on my friend's list to WP).

It's facebook's fault, not WP's and I've been freaked out before at how easy it is to click 'like' whilst browsing other sites, but having a 'like' button on this site in particular bothers me. I'm a closet aspie; very few people apart from my family and closest friends know of my dx and I'd like to keep it that way.

I guess I am forced to choose whether I will close my WP account, or my Facebook account. But clearly, one of them has to go. This is just getting too mainstream for me. I came here for a haven from that crap, not to be forced to participate even if by mistake. :?

I beg your pardon, but I do not know that I am doing any such thing. I am denying people their privacy? Did you not think that through properly, or did you phrase what you meant badly?

I am perhaps not wholly cognisant of what might ensue were such buttons to be used, but I won't stand for being told I am denying people of their privacy when this is not the case.

I personally fail to see why it would be so massively privacy breaching, which is why it is a good job there are people around who perhaps can, and can bring such things to our awareness.
