Hi everybody! :)

I would like to know if there are some of you who have already realized that a profil is a "fake" here on WP?
I mean, a new profil of an unknown person who sends you a message where he/she writes his/her own email address and wants to "discuss more" and send you "photos", only based on the profil and informations you have here...
I am quite puzzled...

I don't know if I'm clear enough.

Thanks for your answers! :)

Hello Adam :)

Very strange, it didn't happen to me but I will be careful.

Thanks for the warning!

Shadi

I will conduct my investigation, and then if it really is a "fake" I will report it to a mod...
@lotusblossom: I'll see... thank you for the link!
@Shadi: Hi, I hope you are okay, see you! :)

Many thanks to you!
I'll let you know as soon as possible
:)

Oops, mistake of a newbie!
When you go to your inbox page you can read:

Notice: Do not respond to members who ask you to email them at an external address. These types of messages are sent by scammers.

there is no more "mystery", scammers are also among us!! So, be careful

Take care
:)

I've gotten 2 of these messages from two separate people sofar. They claim to be female... I'm guessing because I'm male, and say they found my profile interesting and that they want me to email them so they can send pictures. I already know there's something amiss since the thing above the pm says these types of messages are from scammers, but there are other things that make these profiles seem fake. From when they were sent the profiles were created the day I got the pms and also they have zero posts. I'm not an expert but I don't think a brand new emu egg is going to trow out a rope to get close to a random person and start showing a bunch of pictures of themselves... or at least I don't think that would be normal.

Also there isn't enough info in my profile to make me that interesting without maybe the person reading more about me in my posts... just saying.

I didn't respond, but I felt bad because I wasn't sure if they were just spammers or didn't know that it wasn't really appropriate to send a message like that (because they might have had aspergers). Looks like I made the right choice

Yes that is how I felt with the first message I received, but then I received another just today and realized there is a pattern of these profiles not having any posts and them saying they want to send pictures. I did feel bad though the first time it happened because as you said I wondered if they were aspie and just didn't know what was appropriate.

I'm wondering if these messages are targeted to newer users. As in I wonder if people with a low number of posts are more likely to be targeted by these messages... as maybe they think people with fewer posts would be more oblivious to these messages.

I've gotten a couple of them myself. When they say my profile is interesting when there's nothing on it, I know they're fake. XD

Same here. I reported them to a moderator and deleted them. This was about 2 months after I registered.
