It used to be the case that you could only edit your posts up to 7 days after you made them. However, I've just noticed there's an edit button above all my posts even up to my first introductory post 2 years ago. When did this policy change?

It didn't. Click the edit button on those posts and see what happens.

I get the message "You are only allowed to edit your post within the first 9999 minute(s) of it being submitted."

So, it hasn't changed. Still, I've never noticed the edit button on old posts before. This is confusing.

I always noticed it with all my posts. In fact when I first joined here, it was unlimited and then alex changed it to seven days after you make the post because there were some members who go back and delete all their posts by using the edit button and deleting their post and leaving periods or smileys.

Lets people play silly f*****s with previous posts as well. I suggest "Once there have been subsequent posts, let there be no more edit function. If you want to fix a mistake, own up to it in a new post. If you're trying to be clever, don't bother, because you will only get caught and look even more like a dick."

Hey calm down. I wasn't suggesting that the policy be changed. I was just asking a question.
