My sensory issues are being affected by the annoying ads on this website. I find the girl spitting pills out of her mouth and the boy jumping up and down to be so annoying that I cannot function on here. Why are there such distracting ads here when so many of us with autism are affected by such distractions? Sorry, I am just ranting a bit here, but do these kind of moving things around you affect your sensory issues like it does me?

I realize it is necessary to pay the bills here at the WP, and these kinds of ads aren't unique to the WP. But please, couldn't these advertisers allow us to have stationary versions of these ads instead?

I love the WP website. It has helped me tremendously. And I respect all that run it. I just find that I am constantly trying to scroll my page up and down in order to block these moving ads out. And when the girl is spitting pills at the top of the page, then the boy starts jumping and down on the middle left of the page (and there are many other ads that move)---wow, it just gets hard to concentrate.

I block most ads everywhere using http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm - which is why, in fact, I never saw the ones you're speaking of (I can imagine that this must've preserved some of my sanity...)

If you use Google Chrome or Firefox you can download an adblock extension.

Yeah, those ads are maddening and I agree, a bad choice for this site. I'm off to get adblock. :)

I can't imagine anyone out there in 2010 not using an ad blocker.

It's my understanding that motion tends to naturally yank persons' attention to take a look at the motion (a normal human response - so that is what the ads are doing). Regarding the ads, wonder whether the ads really send the right message at all as forcing children 6 or older to be medicated with strong medicines (sprinkles, etc.) for at least a year (sometimes drug discounts for one year coupon) as well as the false idea (my view) that every single active child bouncing on a trampoline has neurological ADHD. Meds for ADHD are appropriate for a few children but not all children and the ads tend to send the message that the easiest way to shut up children (to make the parents feel better) is to medicate them using chemical restrainers/whatever known as powerful ADHD medicines. There's always the difficulty of balancing ads for prescription medicines which help a few people to realizing that some ads may be trying to promote the use of prescription medicines for virtually everyone as candy so as to increase sales and profits only (pure godless greed with no social conscience and no concern at all at forcing - using perhaps irresponsible suggestions - unneeded drugs on everyone simply to make more money).

Indeed. I would have been okay with the ads here if they wouldn't have expanded whenever my mouse just happened to graze over it. Other sites have been annoying with their ads too/ I would hate it when I would be watching a video and I'm distracted by an irrelevant ad on the side. Hopefully, this will take care of all that. Thanks again! I've been meaning to download this for awhile and just haven't gotten around to it. :)

My only problem with the ads are they sometimes pop up right in the middle of the page, I can't see the content or posts... (most of the time, I'm using my cell phone either directly, or using it to control my computer at home and posting from there..) on a related note: to all the people I was insensitive to regarding some of my more animated avatars, I apologise.. I haven't received any complaints about the current one, so I'll stick with it for a while..

Yeah, it makes the site what it ought to be. Now that area of the page that had that jumping kid is just blank. I like it.

I have the left half of my browser dragged off my screen so I won't see them. The jumping kid is the worst, I can't think with him doing that lol. I use to use an addon to remove stuff like that, I think it was called "Rip". I've been meaning to get it again.

I thought I was the only one who was getting aggravated with that boy to the left jumping up and down waving at us. It was setting me on edge.
