I think there should be a spell checker in the forum. As people are misspelling forum topics and other mistakes in their writing. This will make the writing more accurate.

But, consider this, one's personality
is in one writing. How do you guage
the accuracy of their truth if you disguise
it.

Hmmmm?

Hear, hear!! !! ! Bad spelling and grammar is an utterly invaluable tool for the more literate of us to use to at a glance screen out the hatstands from the rest - the chaos universally enforced good spelling would cause would be unthinkable.....

.....and then there's the US/UK spelling implications to think about....... My waggons are colourful and made from aluminium - you'll never take that from me, coppers!! !! !

I totally agree. I weed out the people
that require my special skill of fine-
tooth-combing and offering of taylored
advice, to general "Aspie Dating Game"
level advice.

Sincerely,

Load firefox as your browser.

Firefox includes spellchecking.

And that works much, much faster than anything the forum can add.

(my apologies for any errors, I am currently on a windows browser, but my laptop has firefox. Love it).

ROFL! I didn't even notice. And I see who did it, too.

For those who don't have a browser with the feature, I suggest copy to Word, proof, and copy back. That may seem slow, but I know from experience that it is just as fast as any spell checker the forum could add would be. Forum spell checkers are always slow slow slow. I would really rather not see this forum even try.

It just wouldn't be practical to spell check at site level anyway. The demands on the site would be more than double what they are now when making posts. The site would grind to a halt. Besides - which language would be spell checked anyway? I use the British English spell checker with Firefox, others would want to use American English, Canadian English, Australian English. What about the occasional post in French too? I've got the French spell checker also on my Firefox. Spell checking is best done in the users own browser. I don't know if Internet Explorer has that capability? - I never use it.

I agree. Each time I write a post, (especially a long post), I cut and paste it on to microsoft office word, then press the spelling and grammar button, and hopefully it goes through all the mistakes I make, then I cut it again and paste it back into the text box on WP. It usually works, because I just cannot stand to see spelling mistakes in my posts, but I can't be bothered to read through my post before submitting.

But I don't normally make many spelling mistakes - it's the stupid computer what causes the mistakes. As I'm typing, sometimes I see letters missing what I am sure I typed in, and this happens quite frequently. I know it's the computer what does this because it only does this when I'm typing on the internet, not when I'm typing on word documents.

Once I was typing in ''www.google.com'' in the address box, and it just came up as ''w.ggle.m'', and I was like, wtf???

People should just learn how to spell.
