I know I can be snide and downright rude at times. I know that my emotions often get the best of me but as anyone with any kind of deficiency like this who has been given a position of authority and responsibility, the tend to shine.

I am dedicated and I have a keen eye for trouble.

Thank you very much for your time.

Maybe you can be a mod for the men's forum. ;)

that can be a tall order, to balance the demands of both mr P. as well as the 10s of thousands of enthusiastic [sometimes excessively so] WPers. at least one moderator [who shall remain unnamed here] was given the heave-ho by alex for failing this balancing act. beware... or just be careful what you wish for, for it may just come true and leave you saying "what NOW?!"

Those who ask are generally not given moderatorship. I was conscripted, matey.

The sense of "reward" is satisfied when WP is relatively civil and spam-free ...

... and we members can each and all serve as mods even on this side of the curtain.

We do not have the buttons needed for removing spam, of course, yet we all do have PMs we can use for occasionally reminding each other and others about civility ... and I can tell you this from personal experience:

It is much easier to do a little modding from this side of the curtain where we do not have to be concerned about being retired if/when Alex' InBox might begin overflowing with complaints from mere whiners believing their "civil disobedience" is completely justified. But in looking back, I can also say this:

People who seek to be mods are actually looking for a bit of justification for a bit of even-ever-so-very-subtle bullying.

Yes, 'tis true.

Already tried this and failed. Didn't get the job because my sockpuppets must have betrayed me and gave s**t references.

He was respected by me at least, but I know there were a couple of people who were upset at his rulings. Though I've only been warned by him once when I was new to newsgroups, WP being the first newsgroup I've been a member of, I think he was right in doing so retrospectively considering. Other moderators of the past have used their tools for the purpose of bullying - that case being over and dealt with already though - however in regard to my personal knowledge of the situation QM was not a bully whatsoever but had moderation of the forums as his goal rather than power-tripping.

Worthy goal. We can not know anyone else's mind nor what intent lurks there. We take it on trust...and hope.

I what you say that he upset a few others but you respected him. So as far as you know there is one (you) vs a few (three or four)?

Not a great ratio but as I say we can't know others minds or what intent lurks beyond there

Actually, I only know for certain of one friend on here who got rather upset when QM deemed one of their threads to be in violation of the TOS.

I can imagine no one likes being accused of violating Term Of Service. Must feel like they are being accused of breaking laws. Bad feeling.
Probably similar to being threatened with legal action. Excepting of course that in one instance the incursion has no direct effect on a person's life and is kept in-house so to speak.
But yes the feeling likely would not have been positive.

That problem has been resolved, so why would you seek to start it up again?
