What is a "WP Supporter"?

A WP Supporter is someone who donates or has donated money to support of WP on an ongoing basis.

Is there a link describing the program?

There used to be and it used to be a common complaint that people couldn't find it or had problems donating due to the restricted methods of payment. Basically anyone outside the US (used to have) major hurdles trying to donate.

You would have thought that such a thing would have a prominent position on the site and it would be easy to donate! I've just had another look around and I can't find it! Alex will probably spot this thread and be along sooner or later to give details... and hopefully a link.

You could just try sending Alex a PM, maybe he might help you through with getting your WP Supporter badge (but that's optional though).

What does the money actually go to? Is there some kind of feedback from Alex to show how the money is being used?

Well not really, he gets money for all the "appearances" he makes. So hardly bizarre.

Well, I think he is based out of the United States which means he gets to profit from his hard work though the wonder of capitalism. I greatly enjoy the product that he has given me at no cost and do not begrudge him his income.

Not really, wasn't the money meant to be for a server? Now at least he's admitting its for him.

How is it wrong that he gets paid for his time and effort working on this site?

Didn't he go awol for a long time? I'm not saying he shouldn't get payed. But just not from the vunerable users.

Is he charging you? No. It works like this: If you think the site is worth you paying, say, $25 a month, and you have that, then you pay it. Apparently, you don't think it's worth any money. Hence, you don't pay.

It's that simple.
