What is the very idea of a women's forum if men can read and write there? In my opinion it should be for women only...

Greetings nana

Making it accessable to women only wouldn't work as men can just change their gender to female in their profile to go and read stuff there.

Also, making it a super secret exclusively womens only forum would just make men even more curious about it's contents.

By that logic parents that arent affected by as should only have access to the parenting section(and so on) and it´d be even more seclusive which is not what we are aiming for(we make our best attempt to make sure everyone feels welcome and sections that cant be accessed because you arent x sex/arent affected by as wouldnt be of any help here).

Female section is a place where you can discuss any topic you feel that belongs there knowing that no male will make fun of your issues or anything.

sexist.

There. Someone had to say it.

It's like the whole Curves fitness gyms. No man will ever ogle you there. Yeah, what about lesbians? Are they allowed?

Also, get over yourselves. You're not that important. The world doesn't revolve around you.

What's the reverse or opposite of chauvinism? You're it.

no, thats not the point. I was asking a question I would only ask women because I feel ashamed to ask men. A men answered wich surprised me. And he didnt even know it was in womens forum but just saw it as "newest thread" or something the such. At least I think it should be made clear somewhere that both men and women may read and write. Then I just wouldnt have asked that kind of question.

wow, MasterJedi, that was an overreaction. she wasn't asking for the world to revolve around her or asking for the whole world to have distinct women's areas, she was suggesting that the Women's forum on this website should be for women only. i don't happen to agree but i don't think she needs to be attacked for asking.

OP, if we keep men out of that forum we would be losing a good opportunity to have men better understand women's issues. also it is contentious that a Women's forum even exists, so i don't think segregating it would be a positive move. blue_bean is right too - it would just make some men more curious (like locked topics draw attention)

All sections are open to both sexes and thats not going to change anytime soon.

That section is there so that you can discuss things with females/supportive males(theres enough discrimination against those with as out there and we arent going to enforce more) if you feel uncomfortable discussing things there try to find a suitable all female forum or something similar

I agree with nana, and I am a male bodied human. Although I don't identify as male, still I avoid the women's forum out of respect for boundaries.

are you a throwback to the 1960s? i haven't seen somebody use a word like that since the civil rights movement. you're not doing yourself any favours here.

there is also an Adult forum, a LGBT forum, Parenting forum, a Members Only forum, etc... do you have an issue with those?

I'm saying that others are being the throwbacks by wanting to limit forum usage of others.

if people of a specific color would have topics they feel like they can only discuss with themselves and I dont have that color I wouldnt mind not beeing accepted to such a forum.

And my main point was: Yes, if I had known that its not a women only forum I would have asked that question not here but somewhere else in a women only forum. Hard to find aspies in such, however. It is not easy to see or expect that this forum is open to men as well.

Maybe the substentence could be changed in "open to women and supportive men" or the such if that is the policy. Then Burnbridge would know he may post helpfull comments there and I would know I may only post topics that I am comfortable with talking about with a man as well.

Rally? You wouldn't mind being discriminated against? Really?

I'm out. I can't argue against such ignorance.

once the reasoning was explained to her, she seemed to understand pretty well. looks like the situation is pretty much taken care of.

there aren't any limitations about men going into the Women's forum and posting respectfully, and it isn't even on the table, so you need not worry.

I was explaining it you you. You thought that I was the one who wanted to discriminate.
