...or report them? I keep getting messages in my inbox where someone with very poor English wants me to be their friend and share my phone number and email address so they can pursue a lifetime of love with me - or some other such BS.

So far, all I can do is delete the messages from my inbox. How do I make them stop without having to respond?

Presumably, you contact Alex, or an administrative member if those exist.

A while back I got several of these. I sent the sender a polite reply to the effect that I don't "date" strangers over the I-net, and that they shouldn't either as it is not only inappropriate, but it is unsafe, too. I also mentioned that I don't engage in same sex dates--the sender was my gender, and did appear to be foreign. I also got the impression that the person was trying to set me up for some sort of scam. I have not had a problem for a while now. I don't recall if I found a way to block the sender, or if they just stopped, as this was some time ago.

Try a polite refusal email response. If that doesn't work, do report it. Good luck.

Remember, we on the spectrum are all:

A Different Drummer

If a man does not keep pace with his companions,
Perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer.
Let him step to the music which he hears,
However measured or far away.

--Henry David Thoreau

Isn't this the same spam/scam stuff that people are reporting on a regular basis on the Wrongplanet.net forum? Just copy/paste the info and a moderator will take care of it.

Yep, that's exactly what those are. I still get those in my e-mail on occasion.

The only reason I responded to one was because it was speaking freakin' Indonesian, and I think I mentioned moving to Indonesia somewhere so I thought it might be a real person, and I responded just as I didn't want to hurt "her" feelings, and possibly get some information on Indonesia, I have absolutely no interest in online dating.

like Aimless said above, there is a thread for reporting those Private Messages. don't respond to them.

also, moved this thread from Random Discussion to WrongPlanet.net discussion

The best tool for ignoring other WP members exists solely between your ears.
