I like to discuss education and there isn't a category for this. And it doesn't fit in any of the existing categories.

Thank you.

Sorry; we don't have the means of creating new top-level categories but most things can generally be shoe-horned into the existing categories with a little compromising.
Which aspects of education would you like to discuss?

All education topics. I am an educator and it fascinates me. I'm writing a book on education. I've also created a theory of knowledge based on education. There is much to discuss.

I could fill up an education category with s**t tons of threads.

You could try posting in "School and College Life" and see how that goes.

Hm. But education does not only happen in school; in fact most education occurs outside of school. I'll stick to including my work in philosophy just to make this point.

"School" is not just the formal setting where the teachers teach and the students learn. Anyone who believes otherwise has become too rigid in his or her thinking. That's why I believe that the School and College Life forum is appropriate for the OP's concerns.

The OP could start his own thread there, and maybe title it "School Beyond the Classroom" or something like that.

I like your thinking. But school is a place or institution. What you are talking about is 'education,' which is an idea. Education is not limited to a place or institution.

Also, even if we decided to change the meaning of the term school to mean education, we would still have the problem of most people not knowing the new meaning. If we say school, then people will think of the place and institution and not of education.

What do you think?

i'm a (former and future) teacher and most threads that i would think of posting about educating would go into...

School and College Life
Social Skills and Making Friends
Random Discussion
News and Current Events
Members Only Discussion
Work and finding a Job
Politics, Philosophy, and Religion
In-Depth Adult Life Discussion
Adolescent Autism Forum
Kids' Crater
General Autism Discussion
tec.

... and since the threads would cover different aspects of education i don't think we would need to keep all the threads in one place. it's an interesting idea that you have, but i believe it's pretty much covered in other areas already.
