I've tried using the insert image button and entering the URL from my image hosting site, but it always come up as

(spaces removed when posting)

Does anyone know what could be causing this? I tried Photobucket, Flickr, and my photo album on another forum I use, all to no avail.

Thanks!

I use Photobucket to post images from and it works fine.
Please make a test post of an image here so I can check what's happening.

BTW: your signature is too long - it should be no more than 6 lines so would you please edit it.
Thanks.

I had to give up on Photobucket. It is very hostile to dial-up access, taking up far too much bandwidth with its pages full of sample photos I don't give a fig about. It took forever to login! I've pretty much stopped posting photos as a result.

Anyone know a good alternative to Photobucket?

Sample photos? :? Maybe on their sign-up screens or other areas but not otherwise.
When I log in I'm taken directly to my home album and that only displays what I've put there.
I have NoScript allowing only photobucket.com and pbsrc.com so maybe that's filtered out some noise?

I've just timed it. With no other activity on my dial-up line I went to Photobucket.com and it took 3 minutes and 45 seconds before I could sign in. It insisted on filling my screen with "Summer fun" and various other crappy photos first. The login pop up control finally appeared after clicking it numerous times (pre completed with my stored login details) and from there it took another 55 seconds to open my album page. So nearly 5 minutes just to get in! You can see why I don't use Photobucket any more!

Ah, you're going in via the noisy scenic route.
Haven't seen that since I installed the Photobucket uploader Firefox add-on: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefo ... -uploader/
This puts a discrete little icon at the foot of Firefox and when clicked, logs on and takes me straight to my home album. It also provides a right-click|upload option to any image found on a site.
Logging on using that icon takes a few seconds and avoids all the "main door" noise.

This is what I see when I try to post.

I will change my signature, though it would be a good idea to post the signature length in the rules for new members.

The six line max is already in the rules. Regarding your photo it needs to be available on the URL you give. Not all URLs can be hot-linked (linked to directly via another site). Just noticed that you haven't actually given a proper link to an image either - it would end with jpg, gif, png etc.

I just tried your link to see where it went - I got prompted to login! Another indication that the link you have provided is not fit for purpose.

As TallyMan said.
You basically need a public URL starting with http and ending with a jpeg/gif/png filename.

That makes sense. I hate Photobucket but will try to find an image hosting site that's similar. Thanks for your help :)
