It says on my account page that I have 1 PMs when I have none. What gives?

If someone sends you a PM then changes their mind and deletes it before you've read it - the alert remains but the PM doesn't...
Likewise If someone sends you a PM and then edits it before you've read it - you'll get another PM alert at no extra cost. 
The false alert can also happen if a PM spammer has been deleted because when they're deleted, any unread PMs they've sent are removed too - creating the first situation.
