How to type signature?

It says to use html script which i tried, what am i doing wrong? I tried this

<body>
signature content
</body>
</html>


Is this wrong?

The HTML is already there, just type in the text.

Yeah, you don't need head and body tags, just formatting tags or some others if you want them. Not all tags will work though. Some are not allowed, and will be automatically stripped by the forum software for security purposes. Not sure which ones, but some should be obvious, like script tags.

And are you clicking the "Save Profile" button, NOT the "Save Avatar" button?

thomas81, I've just added a test signature and also activated "Always attach my signature" for you.

You can't use scripts in your signature, although URLs are automatically linked.

It'd be less confusing for the less computer-savy users if it simply said "Type your signature here", as before I knew as much about computing as I do now, HTML gave the impression of using scripts.

^ True, I found the statement about using HTML in the sig more confusing that what it was worth when I joined. I seen to remember doing the <head><body> tags etc before discovering it wasn't required.

If I'm not mistaken, text formatting tags will work, but not much else. <strong> for example. :?:
