This just started happening rather suddenly a little while ago. Mac Chrome. Have not tried other browsers yet.

Load page from email link, and it loads twice (back button activated immediately). Open a user profile (may do the same thing with other links too, but this works every time), open back history from back button. Multiple pages listed all the same, and back button does nothing.

odd, is this only after coming to the site from an email link? it could be due to our new email delivery platform (sendgrid) which we implemented around the 13th of december.

It just occurred to me there might be a conflict with some plugin or other. Not sure. I'm on a different Mac now (same OS), and it's not happening now. I'm going back to the other computer now to see if it'll do it again. It's been restarted. It's just odd that it started happening suddenly, and only with WP links, not necessarily email links either, but not sure about that yet.

Is this why Thunderbird now warns me for all email notifications from WP that "This message may be a scam" ?

I'm back on the other Mac now, and it is this browser. Not the site. Oddly though, it's only doing this with WP links. It's not the email links either. It's any link on WP, and only WP and only on this computer only on Chrome (not Safari). I thought it might have been a reload extension, but I disabled it, and it's still doing it. This is the weirdest thing I've ever seen.

Double-clicking the back button works sometimes, unless the page has been loaded more than twice. It's sometimes loading multiple times.

Well, now this is getting even weirder. There does seem to be issues with Chrome on this site (at least on Mac). Now I can't get any results from the search. This is on my other Mac with no back button problems. All searches in Chrome on WP come up blank. Works fine on Safari.

I'm stumped.

Yeah, turns out there are many issues, only on Chrome, and it appears to be mostly with non-ajax page elements, so I think that's why I'm seeing it only here on WP, with phpBB2, where most of the page elements are not using ajax. It probably will do this weird stuff on some other sites, but I haven't seen anything yet.

Nothing is consistently wrong either. Different things on two different computers. Edit buttons not working on pages, searches coming up empty, pages loading multiple times causing apparent back button malfunction, all Chrome only. They must have just initiated a bad update. Love the fact that they don't include a rollback function or publish their update versions anywhere obvious.

Anyway, it doesn't appear to be a WP problem at all. I thought it might be due to recent updates on the site, but seems that is not the case.

I'm going to change the topic title to reflect this.

Chrome on OS X is my main browser (it's what I'm using right now) and I've never experienced any of the issues you are describing.

I'm not on the computer with the back button problems right now, but when I was:

Clicking any link that would open a new WP tab would load the page twice. From there, it could be twice, or up to five or six times. If it were only twice, double clicking the back button worked. Five or six loads and it wouldn't work at all no matter how many times I clicked it. It would just keep reloading the same page.

That browser had Auto Reload installed, but disabled it still happens. The browser I'm using now also has Auto Reload, but this one doesn't have the back button issue. It has multiple other issues, such as none of the buttons on the edit form work anymore. (Smilies, formatting, img youtube etc. but if I open the all smilies window, that works. I don't know if the other browser has the same problem. My son's hogging it right now running Windows.
