Is cloudflare not working today?

It's the first time in ages I've been getting the "Wrong Planet is currently experiencing a VERY high amount of people posting messages to the site and can't handle the load." page with autism talk videos.

I've gotten it as well. I wonder if the fact that it is Easter weekend is responsible?

There's certainly something going on - I've had problems with access too, getting both the CloudFlare message and the original WP message.

I've also been getting a 500 Internal Server Error. I wonder what that could be?

Yes - I caught that one too, and it also seems to be related to the CloudFlare system.
Maybe there's some sort of maintenance being done because it's Easter, when traffic would normally quieten down.

It would on business-related sites, but on WP I'd expect more traffic if anything, since many people would have a day off work. I saw the "very high amount of people posting" message as well and assumed it was a genuine overload, rather than any CloudFlare issue.

I was thinking more in terms of some wide-ranging maintenance, affecting all clients.
The old-style WP warning may have appeared because at some point CloudFlare was bypassed and since CloudFlare helps relieve WP of site loading, bypassing it would have the same effect as applying an instant heavy load.

The thing is that with Cloudflare, it offers up a cached page when WP is overloaded, rather than simply saying "Watch this Autism TV video."
