Hi,

First off, great site, I'm happy to find something like this exists.

However I don't frequent this forum, mainly because the long list in the forum index overwhelms me. I manage by opening the subfora I'm interested in in tabs, but there are days when even having to scroll down that list to do so is a bit much.

I figured since I'm probably not the only one with this issue I'd ask if it is at all possible to make an account setting where you check boxes for the fora you want to follow. For me these would be

- General Autism Discussion
- Parents' Discussion
- Women's Discussion
- In-Depth Adult Life Discussion

It would be really helpful if I could see in one glance if anything has happened there.

On more energetic days I'd still want to check out the regular front page by the way, so maybe have the selective format accessible through your account? I can just bookmark that for when I need the 'light' version.

The current forum software is not under active development therefore new features won't be added, but may be noted for consideration in later versions.
That said, you can still achieve a similar "de-cluttering" effect by bookmarking only those forums you are interested in seeing. Instead of visiting the main forum index page, just use the bookmarks to access your chosen forums immediately.

From the main index page, click on a forum name to go to its index page and then bookmark it.
For example, the General Autism Discussion forum index page is here:
http://www.wrongplanet.net/forum3.html

Activity on threads in a forum is indicated by the icons on the left of the index display.
Image = no new posts
Image = new posts
Image = new posts and "hot"

Threads to which you have posted, or those you have specifically chosen to watch by selecting the "Watch this topic for replies" link at the foot of each thread display, will send you an update alert by EMail when a new post is made - provided you have the "Always notify me of replies" option selected in your profile.
This is useful to keep up-to-date with topics of particular interest.

Ah right yes. I have no idea what the extend is of configuration options in forums like these, but figured it might be worth a try. Thank you for keeping it in mind :)

Yes I'll set up something in my bookmark bar then. Thanks a lot for your directions.
