If there's 8800+ members, why's there never than 400 on here

everyone doesn't come on at the same time. and i've seen more than 400 plenty of times. I've seen more than 600 on occasion.

People come and go, leave WP and such. Although I'm unsure if banned members still show up on the member count? Do they Alex?

Same reason if your town has 8800 people and you goto your local
Walmart and see a few hundred people at any given time there.

Certainly many of the 8800 are permanently inactive.

on right now 40 members and 275 guests
Most users ever online was 1009, 05-08-06 at 12:27 AM

Most message boards have, at most, a 10% active membership. So WP is normal in that regard.

The most logical explanation I can give is that many people have things going on and are unable to be online. I am sure those people have every intention of being on here, but have other things to do.

Some people can be offline from here for months at a time.

actually WP has a pretty high percentage of active membership. More than 10%
