Are the mods held accountable for their actions / comments ?

Just wondering if our mods are held accountable for their actions or comments !?

Or are they asbestos-like ???

what mods? i havent noticed any.

I try and think of everyone as 'human'. they could make as many mistakes as anyone else here.

i hope you find whatever it is that you are really looking for.

I used to be a mod here, then Alex asked me to resign after I had taken care of a certain situation in a manner he had found unacceptable. However, that does not mean a complaint to Alex will guarantee the reprimand or removal of a moderator!

Alex has ultimate authority on the site. It is he who appoints and dismisses moderators. Sometimes mods are fired, occasionally they may receive a rebuke. Sometime we rebuke ourselves. Yesterday I said something rude to leejosepho in the heat of the moment as he was driving me insane with his comments in a PPR thread, but I apologised straight away - we are human, we do make mistakes and we do get annoyed occasionally. However, I feel we do a good job overall.

If anyone feels a moderator has acted unjustly, report it to Alex. Your complaint may be valid and upheld or he may reject it. Typically if the other mods see a pattern of inappropriate behaviour by another mod, we try to guide that mod in the right direction, failing that we may ask Alex ourselves for that moderator to be removed.

I'm pretty sure that I wouldn't be seen around for long after any complaint .

Sure . It basically refers / compares someone to asbestos due to it's fire resistant properties .

So if someone does something or says something offensive or distasteful and they "get away with it " .....they are described as " being asbestos " .

Occasionally members find it offensive / distasteful when they are pulled up for deliberate / wilful rule violations. The situation has been explained to you. So get over it and move on. Observe the site rules like everyone else; you don't have a free pass to ignore any site rules you don't like.
