Has something changed with new WP that it is not possible to see each others age? I think it is very important to know the age of someone you are making a reply too on forum topics. Age says a lot about context and personal relation to specific topics. It is impossible to adequately reply on a lot of topics without knowledge of age.

Some people's ages were displayed under the old WP format, but only (I think) if they elected to make public their full date of birth (ie including the year) in their profile.

Owing to some sort of glitch, the ages of all members were displayed for the first few hours of the new format's operation.
