I hadn't been on Wrong Planet for a few months, and that was added before I came back. I WANT friends here, but how do I use it? Gets bad being lonely at times...

Don't worry about that feature. When you've made a connection on WP, you'll know it.

Howdy! I'm newer here myself. I have added a few friends, but all I get out of it is knowing if they are online when I am and if I get emails it has a certain color by it. There is a "foe" button too and I'd really like to know what that is all about. Nice meeting ya!

Why sure! I'm batting for the other team - I'm NT. :D

How about telling everyone more about yourself?

I'm not sure. I don't use the friend/foe button

Yes, that is what the friend option does.

All it does is make sure you don't see posts by people on your foe list in the topic review when you're writing a reply, and
when you're using the search user's posts. According to the color explanation in the PM system it will also mark your PMs from people on your foe list in another color.

I've used the "foe" button on 3 people in the hope that it will hide any new posts they make. Is that not the case? If not, it would make a welcome addition to its powers. It would be just like real life, in which I avoid annoying people. One of the three was a shameless spammer, who probably got kicked out anyway, the other two I just found their opinions annoying and too brashly expressed, and I don't think I've seen anything from them since, though that might be a coincidence. I've not used the "friend" button because from the descriptions in this thread, it doesn't seem like it'd do anything I would particularly need. So I have more foes than friends, it seems.

The information of what this option does is still slightly confusing.

Finally having reason to use it, as best I can tell, what the "foe" button actually does is.... absolutely freaking nothing. I cant tell if that's just the glitchy nature of this site or the forum base (not sure if that's the right term) or if it has some mysterious, mystical alternate purpose, but.... it sure dont seem very helpful. Mostly, I echo what ToughDiamond said, and it'd be helpful if it simply prevented the person's posts from appearing whatsoever.

The "friend" button I dont know about; typically I dont really need to be reminded of which ones are friends or not and I'm too spacey to notice who is online and who isnt anyway. And chances are if someone is a friend I also talk to them outside of the site as well.
