Is it really necessary for me to have to enter CAPTCHA every time I want to post something, or even to preview my post? I have never seen anything like this on any web forum. :x :wall: :x :wall:

Is this some sick experiment to see how many aspie meltdowns you can cause?

Yes, they are annoying, but they seem to be responsible for a decrease in "spambot" events.

To me, Captcha is a necessary evil.

It annoys the hell out of me too, though thankfully I don't get prompted to enter a captcha with every post! I did get it trying to reply to someone's PM and even after completing the captcha it lost my PM. Tried several times and same result. Gave up trying to reply to the member in the end.

It also hits me sometimes when I'm trying to delete spammer accounts. It annoys the hell out of me that I get harassed over deleting f***ing spammers! I'm half tempted to say "to hell with it... the spammers can stay!" :x

How is it a necessary evil to make me type a CAPTCHA just to preview my post?

Anyways my understanding is that SPAMers can defeat CAPTCHA. It's the site users who are getting f****d by it. :x

Max, is this happening with every post you preview / submit? If so it may be related to your IP address. It can often happen if there are any URLs in posts submitted too. Sometimes certain words can trigger the captcha check too. If it is none of these things I'm out of ideas to help - as I already mentioned I occasionally get struck with the damn thing too.

It's stopped now. But I'm pretty sure it will happen again. Yes, when it's happening, pretty much every post/preview (edit too) gets the CAPTCHA request, or at least 95%.

It could be a word thats triggering it or URLs are also possible. But I don't normally have problems posting URLs. It seems to just start at random times. Then after a while it stops again.

I guess the next time it happens, I'll try to figure out what words or URLs could be causing it to happen. Thanks for the suggestion.

On an unrelated note and just to add a little more aggravation... the site rules specify that signature should not be longer than 6 lines, yours is currently 8. Can you trim it please. You never know... there could be word(s) in your sig that are triggering the captcha?

OK this is happening again when I attempt to post YouTube videos. I get the CAPTCHA request. I correctly enter the CAPTCHA. Then my post vaporizes and I get error message that it can't be found. :( :( :( :( :( :( :(

BTW I'm using Safari in OS X 10.6, if that helps.

I never got it till I tried posting a certain YouTube vid on a post. I entered it & it acted like it was posted but when I went back to the thread latter my reply wasn't there. I tried reposting & I get it every time but it's just that one post. So Odd

Does it ask you to enter CAPTCHA, and then it disappears? If so, it sounds like the same thing.

It's a nonWP page & there's a space underneath where I can leave a message for the webmaster & after I post I go back to the thread & see my post but when I go back or check my post history it's not there.

I had to enter it when I posted this but it stayed after I posted. I posted this from my droid thou & I was using my girlfriend's laptop for the YouTube reply that wouldn't stay. If this happans again tonight I'll won't try posting again till tomorrow. I don't even post on wP that much any,ore but I notice it's buggy whenever I try posting a bit.

I'm getting CAPTCHA requests on most postings now. Which about 50% of the time results in this error message.

"Could not obtain topic watch information"

I do not have this problem on other forums, and I see no reason it should be happening here.

The cloudflare service isn't just looking at the content you post - but the content of the thread you're posting to. I know I've been posting to many of the same threads as Max000 and am also getting captcha challenges.

Unfortunately, just have to deal with them.
