Whenever I look at the new posts, they're always clogged with "Count to __ by __!" threads, and it's really annoying. Plus, it's always the same people who post in them, and the only reason I can think of is to get their postcount up, which seems really stupid. On another forum I use, posts in the game section don't count toward a person's postcount, and I think that should be done here. It would really clean the clutter but still allow people to enjoy the counting threads if they like them for some reason.

Although I agree that they are annoying when using the "posts since last visit" or browsing active threads; it's not really fair to request that anything be done about them. If those people enjoy, why ruin their fun over something slightly annoying. Also, who cares about post count? Seriously. It doesn't mean anything, nor carry any value other than the fact that the user is a frequent poster, or has been here a long time.

Perhaps when browsing active topics or viewing posts since last visit, an option to include counting threads could be a nice feature (like a check box or something).

I think it would be a good idea to check off a forum you wouldn't want to include in the new posts, e.g. Off-the-Wall. And on the other forum, postcount is sort of important to some people. Until they weren't allowed, people would always make threads celebrating some milestone post like equestriatola did (and that member is one of the ones who uses those counting threads all the time). I think more people care about postcount than you might realize, and eliminating postcounts might cut down on the activity there while still allowing people to enjoy them if they want to.

I agree, post count shouldn't be removed, I didn't mean to imply that. I only meant that you shouldn't be bothered if other people are exploiting a quick-post thread for post count. Even if they end up with the most posts on the entire website, in reality, its just a number which holds no value.

Eliminating post count there could be a good idea, if any admins are reading this, perhaps they could consider it, or hold a vote.

I dont come here so often because of the endless counting threads, having to load page after page to find threads that are not about counting.
Can they not be in a separate sub-forum that has to be specifically accessed?

Someone should start a thread counting all the reasons to get rid of counting threads...

I thought that someone may be practicing mathematics, those threads can be useful for someone.

I've used counting threads to improve my mathematics skills (which are very poor).
Having these threads on the forum means nobody has to know I still need to count using my fingers.

 pretend you never heard that.

It's not all about post counts.

I do understand that they can clog up 'posts since last visit' etc and that can be annoying.
I wouldn't mind at all if they were put in a separate place.

I do something about them every time I stop by. It's called "scrolling up."

One thing I have suggested is that the Games forum be split with the active counting threads being put into a separate sub-forum.

We could start counting by creating counting threads, like someone did once.

Another possibility is "Count by breaking an increasing number of rules".

That's a pretty good idea. That way they won't keep pushing the other game threads away.

Using the View New Posts today, there weren't any counting threads on there. Has it been fixed?

Doubtful. They come in clumps; a person will post in every single one of them at the same time consecutively, putting one on top of the other.
