So, I tried to take care of this via PM, but it's been 4-5 days and I haven't had a reply. If one of the mods could please answer this...

GoonSquad's PM wrote:
I gotta say I think that was a bit heavy handed. I wasn't making a blanket statement about certain people so much as issuing a challenge.

As far a language goes, if the filter didn't get it, it cannot be all that bad.

Be that as it may, I think there was potential for some actual constructive and informative discussion here. Nobody in the thread was flaming, and I was just about to answer some of the more thoughtful challenges.

So, is there any chance to get the thread unlocked? If so, I will edit the original post to make it less provocative and a bit more clear.

Barring that, if I make a whole new thread on this subject (conforming to the rules) are you going to lock that one as well?

Thanks for your attention.

this one, am i right? viewtopic.php?t=321562

i wasn't here when the thread was locked, really...if there were reports, i did not have a chance to see them.

the "rules" on swearing are incredibly wishy washy and it's damn near impossible to make a "one size fits all" statement, people will react to swearing in all sorts of ways depending on the context and content. i believe if the filter didn't get it, it cannot be all that bad has some merit.....

having said that, it was still confrontational and accusatory in tone IMO and, true, the flaming was not major, but still i'm not surprised the thread ended up locked.

i'm pretty sure you're past the time window to edit your OP mate. if you want to start a new, revised one feel free to have a go, but i'd wait until another mod shares his/her thoughts?

Thanks for the reply.

My main concern involves the bit about "reposting locked or deleted threads."

Since my subject isn't patently offensive, I don't see why I shouldn't be allowed to start another thread... but like I said before, I think the locking was an over reaction, so I just want to be sure.

i think the reasoning behind not allowing reposting of locked threads is that, it typically leads to the same arguments being had over again.

i'm not sure if you already have, but if you can word your post in a way that gives the same general idea, but without it coming across as confrontational, it could go better.
