I've gotten that too when clicking on a thread from the front page. It went to youtube too
I just thought I had accidentally hit the wrong place and closed it

P.S. Don't use the front page or pages with adverts unless you have a good adblock - works for me

Don't love that since those words are from one of my two favorite movies of all time.

I'm not sure if it's related or not but I had a message telling me that my password wasn't compatible with the site anymore... I moved around through some of the links, never really doing anything with my password and now it works fine... very strange...

I've been effectively locked out of the site since last Wednesday - that'd be March 7. So, ten days ago. I could get the "landing page" to load, but as soon as I clicked on Forums (because I like to log in from there) I got a popup that claimed there was a problem with some info or other, and wanted input, and offered an 800 number to call. (I have a screenshot but would rather not post it because of that 800 number.) When I closed that little nuisance, it triggered a second, very aggressive popup with audio, that insisted I had a particularly nasty type of malware (the audio did this, in a female British accent). THIS, I could absolutely not close other than by shutting down my machine. Same 800 number on the second popup.

So... I tried once more on the 7th - then on alternate days (9th, 11th, etc.) and kept getting the same thing. I sent a screenshot of the popup to Alex in an email this week (because his was the only email I knew here), and I picked up a couple Wakanda-level blockers from Firefox at the end of this week (have a malware killer already). Today, now, is the first time I've been able to log in here since ten days ago.

I don't know if Alex and the mods (sounds like a pop group) or Firefox and the blockers, or both, fixed the problem, but it was pretty frustrating ... and I really missed this site.

I suspect some pretty nasty phishing attempt was being made, and that's why I don't want to be a party to showing that 800 number on this thread.

^^^ The same thing happened to me Esmerelda & I made a thread about it. I notice it's only on FireFox but doesn't happen on Explorer. I also don't have the problem when I get to the forums by clicking links in my watched posts. That may just be my system thou. Sometimes I forget thou & the $hit comes up. When that happens I press Ctrl Alt Del at the same time, open Task Manager & go to Processes & click on an FF one & then End Processes. That force stops FF but I think this is only a windows trick.

Thanks Nick... I appreciate the info! I thought about trying Explorer but I don't have all the bells and whistles on it (various blockers for nasty stuff) that I now have on Firefox. Hopefully now that I can get back in, I won't see the problem again - if I do I'll try your approach.
