Hi..
I was wondering, if anyone wishes they could have used a different username if they wanted to.
As this site doesn't offer sex changes or a chance to redeem back certain out of the ordinary encounters, like making the same mistake twice, then learning from the mess you get yourself into with some episodes involving people.
Like, has anyone been in the situation like they've been to another country, and wished they could have called themselves Gertrude because they met someone and liked the interaction? or calling themselves after a place.
I think, all users should be entitled to at least one username change.
I'm starting to think that mine might be linked to Gloria Vanderbilt because she is so old and obsessed with perfume, but I'm not thinking brand names because it would draw unwanted financial speculation, I'll probably just replace the avatar for now. Oh well, maybe I can add a touch of glamour back to her
This is just one stat, maybe moving it will create acute awareness of the facts that some might involuntarily be linked to a random star who woke up after being asleep for so long.. :|

I was just speculating, but indeed, Pearl would remain a singer. Just as Boy George is. Your x is equal to my Y. I have a healthy mix of both. I'm thinking HOT doesn't even spell out Gertrude is here in the Women's chat room.
Try a half hearted chat up line, it wouldn't be lost on Pearl. Just me.

I think it's a good idea. Another site I'm on allows you to change your username 6 times a year. But it probably won't happen unless there's a complete server change.

I don't want a change. I like my user name. However, I don't think I should have revealed so much personal information.

No, I've been on sites where people couldn't change their names, but the admin sometimes did it for them if they thought they had a good reason. It created plenty of "huh? this member has been here since (insert date) and has x posts, how did I miss them?" because no one knew the names had been changed, and it also made earlier quotes confusing.

It's just chaotic and confusing.

I'm sure there are some that would love to be able to do that though as their obsessions change.

People should be VERY careful when choosing their screen names, and consider, for example, what would happen if their employers found out that their screen names were something like "Office_Slacker" or "Desktop_Pornstar", or if someone's parents found out that their 12-year old daughter's screen name was "Notavirgin".

Yeah, names like "Fnord" and "Skilpadde" might seem kinda boring to some, but at least they're unique and nothing to be embarrassed about.

This site should allow the display of less personal information as selected by the user.

Yes, this is my second username here. I created new account because I couldn't rename nick, which is too much known in my family.

Why is this topic posted in the Women's forum?

So, Gertrude wouldn't be boring? sorry to all Gertrudes out there. Looks like someone's caught on to their daughters credentials. NotaVirgin. Haha. Some people need X Filling out into the open air just to saturise their non pornographic toxic input on a matter that concerns users every day. I hear it, and I prefer the less eye sore of an avatar you have now as compared to that dead man walking thing you had. What previse sense of dried up humour is that anyway>?
Got a point though. Are we commemorating Madonna's 60th here or what? There are many lapdog queens out there who are nothing as compared to Morecambe and Wise for instance, but unless you want to be famed for being part of a dynamic boring duo, then some plank needs to step up a gear and take users requests on board, or else should file their name for a divorce.
As for a name, a letter could be added on to a word or etc, and then some people can just use the former and then its all out for themselves.
One might also argue, that if this is still a womens section, why that hasn't been changed to ''All Boys And Girls'' ''Men and women discussion'' etc. I came here as it speaks in the former, and I intend to address anyone according to who they truly are.
As for me, I don't mind being called Pearl, as that can have many subtle qualities too.

This is my second user name as well. I had a user name related to cats, but it was an old one.

Just to add, as to why this might be posted here as opposed to stats, is maybe people want to be known as being ''one sex''. There are too many people being dragged into cross or trans gender discussions,( as much as I support the LGBT group to a degree,) its all people seem to want to impose; and besides living up a section of the forum intended for women (in the former), it brings about a sense of greater variety of discussion. Rather than text speak about ''boobs, periods, boyfriend trouble etc''. It evokes a greater sense of maturity and dignity to a board that should honour all sex groups and not just one if people don't mind me saying so.
Most importantly, addressing the reality of a username change, should be entirely optional on the users control panel and be there in case they find their account being hacked or worse, abused by online trolls not totally dealt with in the right and empathetic way by a fully licensed moderator.
Seems that by poll proxy, the vote for an all out change seems to win by over half the vote meaning people agree with it, but if people wish to state in full their opinion, then by all means, please do as anyone from the board of boards have obviously united in this discussion from the broad spectrum of Y and X sex and age groups.

@PearlsofWisdom: It seems that you are something of an expert on how to set up and run a social website. Tell me, how many such websites do you own, administrate, or moderate? Just curious.

In response, yes, I have dabbled in setting up some forum group support for people, but seeing as this discussion is centred mainly around usernames, and not what some people what to derive from class distinction or sex, then I don't see how your mediocre point scoring is relevant to that by a degree.

Whilst you may think the majority of people might agree with you, even though it's blatantly obvious they don't, as you've been the centre of I imagine, many sore discussions in the past, maybe it's time you thought about making sense of your appeal for change?

WHAT appeal for change? I like things that way they are, where you get one shot at your username, and that's it!
