Five days to get an email notification?

I usually subscribe to a thread if I have posted in it, to see if anyone responds to me directly. It's the only way to avoid the rudeness of not responding to another person who has mentioned me.

Used to take maybe a couple of hours, but lately I am getting these notifications up to five days late! Could this be speeded up, please?
