After a thorough investigation, we have discovered that LoneLoyalWolf has been harassing multiple members for months, in PMs and in public. He was already banned in August for sending abusive PMs to certain members, but was pardoned by Alex on the account of it being his first offence. He was let in under the condition he doesn't commit a similar offence again.

However, lately we have discovered he has not only continued to harass and malign innocent members, but that his actions spread to more members, male and female alike.

Lone Loyal Wolf has been banned permanently from Wrong Planet for his behaviour, and for breaking our code of conduct about bullying. If you have been harassed by this member in the past please notify us immediately, and if you are in contact with him please be wary, since he is a delusional and highly manipulative person who bullies insidiously, covertly and overtly -- even on public forums. This behaviour will not be tolerated on Wrong Planet as we strive to be a safe place for all.

We would also like to thank all the WP members who have helped us in this investigation.

Again, thank you to booya and the other mods for your efforts in resolving this and all the other unpleasantness that unfortunately takes place on this site from time to time.

He was strange, yes, but unfortunately not just that - he's highly paranoid and delusional. We're worried he might return here as a sock puppet. So please, if you notice someone similar send a PM, or report them.

This is the second time this year we've had an insidious bully here, posing as a nice person. I'm not entirely sure how to catch them earlier before they make a lot of mess other than to urge everyone to report abusive messages, or anything fishy going on.

Yeah, that does tend to happen =/ There isn't much you can do about it, except keep blocking the IP...which isn't that hard to get around, and sometimes ends up blocking innocent users.

Yeah, precisely for that reason we don't ban IPs. When we did, too many innocent members were affected. However, usually there aren't many Dutch posters here, so it should be more or less easy to spot him in case he decides to return.

Good work Booya ( and all the mods involved ) , you are always going to get idiots on this forum we attract them. I'm not sure there is anything you can do except clean up the mess afterwards. The only thing that can be done is as you say members need to stay vigilant and report anything that doesn't seem right.

Better to report and be wrong than not report and let them do it to others.

Thanks! And yes, you're right. But I'm slightly worried since too many people are a bit wary of the report button, for various reasons, and we attract idiots as you say.

The problem with identifying through IP's is they can match other users and they can also easily be altered.

A way to spot a sockpuppet is a similarly in writing styles and or similarly in interests.

I find it telling when someone who posts prolifically in a certain section suddenly disappears and is "replaced" by someone else who takes over prolifically posting the same type of material.

That seems to clearly be going on currently, but mods who post replies to those threads seem obvious to it or are intentionally overlooking it.
