This site is so f*****g inactive. I like to have new material to read, either new threads or added to existing threads, like people who read a newspaper every day.

Am I the only one left who still uses forums? This is the only place I can share things with other Aspies and yet it is like a cyber wasteland. I actually feel physically lonely when I visit this site, like I'm in a huge building all by myself with unused furniture and stuff.

Yes I use other social media but I still have time and enthusiasm to visit WP too, as I have created a shortcut on my mobile device, so I can access WP as easy as I can access Facebook, Snapchat, messenger and text messages. Am I the only one still open-minded and thinking outside the box?

I bet this thread will stay at the top of this subforum for another week with a big, fat, ugly 0 under the replies count.

Your prophecy wasn’t realized :P

Remember that US people are usually sleeping until about Noon UK time.

I am aware of that but each time I check WP in the morning it looks like there was even less activity during the night (US daytime) than there is in the day.

US people are usually most active during very late night in the UK. Early evening in the US.

The usual suspects, though, are always active.

I forgot this site existed for a long time. My wife reminded me of it a few days ago, and I've added it back into my regular social media rotation.

I wasn't here before, but in my mind this one is still active (compared to other forums I have been on that have gone dead).

Even so, I also sit here refreshing looking for new posts (too much). Plus I am new, so pretty much every post is something I have never seen. I see you've been here since 2010 (or before), so I suspect a lot of posts you skip over (BTDT).

I remember what it was like when my other support boards were slow and I had BTDT... had to (sadly) go find something else to do.

Maybe it's just me, being a newbie here, thinking that there is a lot going on. Having said that, there's a lot of sh*t threads as well (stupid games and fake news).Yet, raison d'être (autism) is not widely utilised. So from my perspective, yes it's up for improvement.

This place is on its last legs. But it is also one of the few forums of its kind that is still alive and kicking (or at least twitching). Gotta make do with with what it is and be more flexible. I basically never posted in the game threads. But out of desperation so to speak I finally did and enjoyed it some. I'm determined to stick with WP, even to the point where I am the last person posting here.

I'm not sure I would go so far as to say "last legs" but it's sure not what it was in 2010/2011

I am sure this site will weather the storm and stick around because there are not many sites like it,it is to usefull,"aspies for freedom" is long gone and there was another autism site I used to be on that I forget the name of and it was dead as a door nail.

What's left "aspie central",I have never been on aspie central but I doubt it's busier than here.I am on one facebook autism group "AU chat" and that's as dead as a door nail.

Wrongplanet is and always will be the best place to be even with all it's fault's.

I'm just feeling so down at the moment, and when I'm down everything makes me angry. If you want to know why I'm down then just go to one of the most inactive subforums, the members only discussion. I have to post there because it's the privatest subforum. I know I could use the adult subforums but they're even more inactive than the members only.

Also I hate it when people bump old topics. I know I should get into the habit of looking at the date of the OP before I post but I don't always think to do that. Some threads are OK to be bumped, but the threads where the OP is looking for advice are pointless in bumping because usually the OP is no longer a member here any more or their problem has been resolved a long time ago.

And I'm bored of using the word ''thread''. Is there are another term for this?

^^

Jo, I'm irritable this morning. So with you in that way. Mine is from All There Is To Do. Just now the cat meowed the guinea pig squeaked and I did not have sympathetic responses (I went with no response). Or maybe my upset is the ongoing work angst, or how to get my written report, or what's next for me, or just all there is to do.

I also feel weird when an old topic is bumped, although it does occur to me that there might be an update that is useful, or the new poster has useful information (regardless of post placement). At work I may have responded to a super old email because my sort wasn't as expected. I am not sure b/c I didn't even want to look. Nobody responded either way, so it's water under yet another bridge --- or is it the same bridge?

I looked up synonyms for "thread" and I like "strand" "filament" and "swathe". I have yet to use the word "thread" on this forum. Imagining: "There is a related strand that I read."

I think the demise of forums was probably being predicted as far back as the turn of the century.

Reports of the Forum's Demise are greatly exaggerated.....

There are forums I was prolific on that are totally dead now. The one I was the most prolific on literally doesn't exist any loner. The owner stopped paying for it (after it essentially died out) and the host pulled the plug. WP is still a ways from that. I suppose. Maybe not on its last legs, but definitely long in the tooth. Enjoy it while it lasts.
