How to tell you got banned? Any blatant or subtle signs?

In recent times, I saw those "suspicious network activity, please enter your e-mail to gain access" messages. I have 2 mod warnings under my belt (with a 3-strike rule, I presume), and I clearly remember strict warnings against posting certain topics, particularly in the Love and Dating forum. I'm also aware of existing members getting banned. Plus, I've posted topics that ruffled feathers, like criticizing conventional families or trashing talk therapists. So, I'm putting two and two together here.

So, hypothetically speaking, I did whatever and got banned. How would I know that? Would I see a warning upon logging in, after logging in, or somewhere else? Would I get an e-mail? Would WP not display on my computer at all, due to my IP address being blocked entirely? Or would everything look and feel normal until I tried to post or reply to a thread.

Please advise.

You would get a letter from a Mod telling you you’re banned, and for how long.

I think you have opinions I don’t agree with at times—but I think you’re reasonable most of the time, and don’t deserve to be banned.

Expressing sympathy with Incel ideology could incur warnings on this Site.

Talking about therapists won’t get you banned. It’s only your opinion....and it doesn’t get into territory which the Mods don’t like.

I’m not a Mod.

When you log in, instead of being directed to the usual pages you would be directed to one which simply states that you have been banned, why you have been banned, and how long for.

Anything else - like error messages - is just WrongPlanet playing up.

IDk I've never been banned from here, I suppose I cut myself off before I end up posting ban worthy things. Worst for me is sometimes I have posted when I am a bit drunk and maybe regretted some of what I posted...but seems none of it has been ban worthy just personally embarrassing sometimes.

Ha ha, true on that last part...like most of the time I can just log in normally. But sometimes it will keep giving error messages and crap so I just have to x out of the site and reload it and that usually works.

I noticed that this site became a lot more censor-heavy in the last 5 years. I feel like all it'll take to get me banned is inadvertently ticking off the wrong person at the wrong time. With no opportunity to back myself up, face my accuser, or negotiate a shorter ban, either. :( So that's why I wanted to know what signs to look for if case I get banned, deservedly or otherwise.

This looks more like something from The Onion (a satire/parody newspaper), rather than a legitimate news source. I'm unnerved that you got banned for posting it. Perhaps The Powers That Be were worried that WP's aspie members might take the headline seriously.

Thanks for the cautionary tale. I already cut back significantly on the topics I post here. And I avoid threads on men's dating troubles like the plague, for obvious reasons.

It's a screenshot from the Jay Leno show where he shows funny headlines that viewers send in. This one was just bad wording of the continuation of an article. I posted it in Politics, Philosophy, and Religion - PPR GIFs, cartoons, jokes, funny pictures, etc.

The reason for the temporary ban of you and two other members were your behaviors in the "Climate Talks Fail". A mod said there were too much flaming memes in the thread, yet the three of you continued to make jokes and further derailing the thread and then making light of doing so to boot.
And that was the reason for your temp bans.

As I understood it B19 said to refrain from posting trolling memes. That was after someone had directed derogatory memes to flame opponents. All I posted in that thread after the warning was a picture of the Buffalo Wild Wings logo that was not aimed at flaming or trolling anyone. The message I got from the warning was, "do not troll/flame people with derogatory memes". Which I never did in that thread. Or any other thread I can think of. So I ruled that logo out as the "trolling meme".

I guess the other two members decided not to come back to WP since they have not posted since their temp ban.

So as a correction, this is what I got banned for:

I was nearly banned I just got so angry with someone I lashed out, I just decided to take a break from WP for a while until I was ready to post again, now I stay away from certain topics.

That's a chain restaurant with overpriced, poor-quality wings! How is posting its logo worthy of a ban? :? Or is this meant to be satire of some sort, like how WP bans are becoming a sneak attack, like red light cameras on roads?

If you got banned, you would not be able to view the forum while signed in. It will say you have been banned from using this forum or something like that.
